The “Weave Space” is a performance art library, proposed for Sarah D. Roosevelt Park, Lower East Side, New York. This project uses three sets of continuous ribbons, connected via two monumental, suspended staircases to create a variety of in-between spaces. A series of unconventional performance stages and performative reading rooms are formed. The play between suspension and adjacency ii

Walking down the street in Manhattan leaves very little space for imagination. The unified car lanes, traffic lights, scaffolding and sidewalk concrete, just like the MTA subway system, nothing seems to be changing, other than the coming and going of local businesses.

On a small block in South Bronx lies a diverse neighborhood where the core of social life happens on the street. Small local businesses on the street like the i

barber shops and corner stores are where casual conversations and social interactions happen.

The small street vendor like the churro lady often uses a nimbler grocery rolling cart. The cart is filled with produce, small snacks and other personal items, and then it is topped with a surface for display. Some would also use it for preparing mango slices, small summer drinks and so on.

Since most small food vendors would prepare the products at home, at times starting at 4 am, it often puts a lot of pressure on the domestic kitchen. Additionally, like the canners who are restricted by the bulkiness of their cart, the street vendors also have difficulties tending to personal needs like going to the bathrooms while being on the street with their carts.

For the delivery worker, between the personal items he would leave behind in the e-bike garage, and the various expensive gear that he has to keep an eye out while out on the job, such as the 5000 dollars e-bike, 500 dollars battery, and 50 dollars delivery bag, there

Delivery Workers! was virtually no support for his simple biological needs. Media coverage on the related topics are unsurprisingly focused on reporting them as a public nuisance.

For example, this one complains about them using toilets in the shopping malls while carrying the food delivery bag into the stalls, and this piece focuses on the unruly gathering of delivery workers in the neighborhood park in Tribeca.

In order to create a network for the workers, we have identified 1

too small to be adopted by big commercial businesses, leaving them often left semi-abandoned to hold trash receptacles, parking or occasionally tiny stores. The

anti-gentrification nature of these spaces and its under-utilization status make it ideal for community-led acquisition.
