This training guides them to learn: the difference between a community service project and a Gold Award take action project, ideas on how to raise the bar and address the root cause of problems, how to make a Gold Award project measurable, how to ensure sustainability is included in a Gold Award Project, what the approval process is like and what you need to submit to the council and how the council recognizes Gold Award recipients. location TBD North Phoenix Location Phoenix/Scottsdale girl fee $4 adult fee $4 girl capacity min 5 / max 15 adult capacity min 3 / max 7 registration September 6, 2016 – January 12, 2017

The rugged and beautiful White Tank Mountains are decorated by canyons made by infrequent heavy rains causing flash floodwaters to plunge through the canyons and pour onto the plain. These torrential flows, pouring down chutes and dropping off ledges, have scoured out a series of depressions, or tanks, in the white granite rock below, thus giving the mountains their name. We will hike the morning away and maybe see a waterfall! Hiking is mild to moderate. recognition Councils Own Hiking Patch, All About Healthy Living Patch and Fitness Rocker location White Tank Mountain Regional Park 20304 W White Tank Mtn Rd, Waddell, AZ girl fee $12 (early registration $10) girl capacity min 10 / max 40 adult capacity min 5 / max 15 registration December 19, 2016 – January 18, 2017 (early reg opens November 1, 2016) www.girlscoutsaz.org/activities
