Paris of the last century, the restaurant - a favourite among locals - offers the genuine flavours of Lombardy and Italian cuisine with a modern twist that does not detract from tradition but reinterprets it with simplicity and lightness in dishes that are perfect and contemporary. Founded in 1987, the Stendhal has been run by the Forti family for over 20 years; the magic of bygone days and loyalty to the values of fine dining are preserved intact, without the dusty, old-fashioned atmosphere of some traditional inns. The menu includes vegetarian dishes, light for a delicious informal business lunch, alongside traditional recipes such as braised marrowbone with gremolada and saffron riso o, classic mondeghili meatballs, green tonnarelli pasta with veal ragout and truffle oil, veal with tuna sauce and Milanese veal cutlet. Meats, fish, cheeses and plant-based dishes are served in a sophisticated se ing with a focus on detail, from mirrors to table linen, wood panelling to fresh flowers from the stall in front of the San Marco church; modern art from the collection of owner Marcello Forti, and the background music, which creates the unique atmosphere loved by a smart, exacting clientele who want to feel at home. In addition to the two dining rooms, the restaurant also has a heated outdoor area with a green ceiling reminiscent of a winter garden. The perfect setting for a family dinner, a special celebration or an intimate conversation under so lighting. A key part of the place’s alchemy is the Stendhal team, who always greet guests with a smile, relate the menu and the great wine list like a wonderful story.
