Take a nice sunny Saturday - “don’t be put off by the cliché that Milan’s a cold, grey place; in Milan it’s nearly always sunny. Recently I’ve found the weather is often worse in Rome - incredible, isn’t it?” - and visit this small and ‘very Milanese’ market. “My favourite stall is Mazara Fish. The Milanese are right: the best fish is here in Milan!” Gioielleria Pennisi It’s in Via Manzoni, a stone’s throw from the intersection with Via Monte Napoleone. A truly delightful jewellery shop, founded in 1971 by Giovanni Pennisi, a descendant of Catania goldsmiths who chose Milan to continue his family tradition, a diamond specialist with a collector’s devotion and a passion for antiques, which he has handed down to the next generations. “His antique jewellery make me daydream; I pass the window and I’m enchanted every time.” Society Limonta
