CHAN CHAN, HOMENAJE AL SOL
Chan Chan, homage of the Sun Chan significa Sol, de lo que se desprende que Chan Chan quiere decir Sol Sol, en idioma quingnam o chimú, el cual da un nuevo significado cuando se duplica un término, por lo que podría significar gran sol, sol resplandeciente, sol esplendoroso o sol refulgurante.
Chan means Sun, thus Chan Chan means Sun Sun in Quingnam language, also known as Chimu. In this language by doubling a term you give it a new meaning, thus this could mean Big Sun, Dazzling Sun, Magnificent Sun or Brilliant Sun.
Se supone, en consecuencia, que el nombre se debe a la intensa exposición solar que soporta el lugar, según datos de los cronistas españoles que llegaron luego de la conquista.
Therefore, it is supposed that the name responds to the intense sun exposure of such location, according to the information revealed by the Spanish chroniclers who arrived after the conquest of Peru.
