SUNDAY SEMINARS Charging Your Worth Without Getting into Actual Numbers – Sarah Drouin

What do you charge for, and what DON’T you charge for? Are you only charging a quarter more for larger dogs than small? Is your six–week client paying as much as your twelve–week client? What is your worth?! Let’s get into it! This will be an open discussion with the speaker.

Introduction to the Finer Race: The Feline Face – Blake Hernandez

In this fun filled Cat–centric hour, you will learn some great starter services for cat clients to get your foot in the door with Feline Grooming. We will go over everything from how to check–in cats, how to set you and your salon up for success with cat appointments, and what tools are a must when working in the specialized field. To top it all off, Blake will demonstrate how to naturally groom a cat’s face so that your “bath cats” leave looking fiercer than ever before. This is key to separate your service from every other service around!

It’s A Snap! Snap–On Combs To Simplify Your Everyday Grooms – Mackensie Murphy Top competitor and Groom Team USA member Mackensie has spent her entire career in a salon doing your everyday pet trims. Over the years she has figured out how to cut down time by using snap–on combs. She will show you all the tricks she’s picked up along the way to make your everyday grooming easier and quicker with snap–on combs.

Establishing Your Identity – Joshua Morales

Do you spend your days cleaning

10

up dirty, matted dogs? Have easy maintenance trims become a way of life in your salon? Would you like to see more customers with dogs in great shape— wanting breed profile trims? Salons thrive on servicing a broad spectrum of clients —but when the scales are lopsided it may be time to evaluate your customers’ perception of you. Are you viewed as a shop that only does easy maintenance and shave–down trims—or are you identified as styling only show dogs? In other words, do your clients view you as a specialty or full–service business? In this thought–provoking seminar, Josh will discuss how to “establish an identity” that attracts the type of clientele you desire.

Bringing Everything but the Kitchen Sink: House–Call Grooming – Laura Hearn

Shear Balance – Krystal Purcell

– Joey Villani

GroomTeam USA member Krystal Purcell gives you the basic lowdown on all things shear! she’ll show you the importance of thumb and finger guards, explain the differences between thinners, blenders, and chunkers, and tells you how you can improve your scissor technique just by holding your shears differently.

Make It 3D – Philip Schafmayer

On the subject of “house–call” grooming, (grooming pets inside the client’s home) Laura will discuss basic equipment needed, as well as the ways to keep and maintain clients. Topics will include the “30 second elevator pitch”, pre–screening questions to ask to be sure you are the right fit for your potential clients, a way to build your own recirculating bathing system, marketing/advertising, pricing, routing and zoning.

Running Your Business to Its Maximum Potential

We all go through the same things in business when we’re having a hard time figuring out what we should be charging, dealing with difficult clients and figuring out how to move forward. If you are struggling with this, then this is the seminar for you. Figure out what you should be charging, how to streamline your day–to–day operation, and be confident that you are doing everything to its maximum potential.

This seminar is all about how to trim for more than just a 2D profile on a dog. It will cover how to find the different angles within each trim to really give the best result possible as well as how to correctively groom using angles within a trim to “add leg” to shorter legged dogs and neck to dogs that are too “stuffy”.

Scissors Down – Nadia Bongelli

Clippers are amazing tools and can be used to our advantage in a busy high– volume shop. There are so many tricks to use with your clippers that will give your clients the appearance of a scissored finish, without the extra time involved. Do not sacrifice quality when using your most trusty tool and learn to embrace your clippers!
