COMMUNITY CHILD WATCH
Check your e-mail, surf the web, read the newspaper and more in our computer lab. We have three computers set-up with internet access for your use. The lab is open during regular operating hours. This service is provided free of charge to members and guests.
The Hanover and South Hanover YMCA’s now offers “Community Child Watch”. The YMCA Child Watch team will supervise your child for up to two (2) hours a day while you run errands, attend appointments, etc. This service is offered during regular YMCA Child Watch hours. Ages: 8 weeks - 8 years

YOUTH/SENIOR CENTER Hang out with friends and challenge them to a game. Our Youth/Senior Centers offer a variety of activities for youth ages 8 - 18. All centers have a Wii video game system. The Hanover Youth Center also offers ping-pong, air hockey, pool, bumper pool, board games and a lounge area. Our Littlestown center offers computer games, air hockey and a lounge area. Centers are open during regular operating hours.
COMMUNITY GARDEN Open to all ages, the Community Garden will help teach you how to start and maintain your own garden. Whether you want to learn to grow vegetables as a family, flowers as a group of friends or learn about horticulture as an individual, several areas of gardening will be covered in this program. We will be growing our very own plants in gardens on the Hanover YMCA grounds. Look for advertisements in the early spring with dates on the Community Garden meetings.

Parents are required to complete a registration packet and return the completed information before dropping their child off. The fee for this service is $5.00/hour/child. Reservations are requested at least 48 hours in advance, limited spaces are available. Reservations may be made by contacting Cathy Lewter, Child Development Administrative Assistant, at (717)632-8211 ext. 230, Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 2:30pm.
YOUTH COMMITTEE Open to individuals in grades 7 through 12, the Youth Committee will be involved in programs in the community as well as helping guide the development of the YMCA youth programming. Young adults from all areas are welcome to come join the group. The only requirement is to bring ideas and a positive attitude. The First meeting will be held in the Boardroom of the Hanover YMCA on Wednesday January 18th at 6pm.
COLLABORATING FOR A BETTER YOU The Hanover Y continues to collaborate with Hanover Hospital to bring its members the best wellness programs in the area. Our partnership with Hanover Hospital has been very successful and continues to expand with new screenings and programs:

Hanover Hospital staff will conducting various health related lectures in conjunction with many of our popular senior fitness classes. Lunch will be provided for those who attend. Look for more information to come.
HANOVER HOSPITAL BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS
The Hanover Hospital Sports Medicine Staff will provide Blood Pressure reading for all YMCA members every Wednesday from 8:30-10:30am in the Cardio Weight Room. The last Tuesday of each month there will be Body Composition readings.

HANOVER MEDICAL FITNESS CENTER YMCA MEMBER BENEfiT PROGRAM
We are please to offer this new collaboration with the Hanover Hospital’s Medical Fitness Center. Any member who is in need of a little more personal attention during their workout or is just recovering from a illness or injury is now able to utilize this 2 month membership to the Medical Fitness Center. The Hanover Area YMCA and the Hanover Hospital are pleased to offer new and expecting mothers a program membership for the duration of your pregnancy. This collaboration will be offered exclusively at the North Hanover YMCA location and will feature several exercise classes both land and water based for expecting mothers to participate in. As an added benefit of our program, staff from Mountain View OB-GYN will provide a series of educational classes and services for you and your unborn child. Take the worry, as well as the mess, out of your party. We host 2-hour parties right here in the Gymnastic Center. You bring the supplies OR we will supply paper products in red, blue, pink or purple. Tables and chairs will be set up for your party and the kitchen space is available if needed. These classes are a stepping stone to our USAG and USAIGC competitive gymnastics. Prices range from $78 to $118 per month.

Our Gym Minis take their first steps toward USAG team. They focus on body position training and basic skills as they prepare for Pre-Team.

RUTTERS YOUTH FITNESS CENTER WINTER I BUS-IN PROGRAM Program will be available for Park Hills and Baresville schools. Bus-in programs for other schools will be scheduled based on interest. Students ages 7-13 will be able to use our kids only equipment. The program starts January 9, 2012 and will run for six weeks, one time per week. More detailed information will be provided via a flyer to the schools. Cost: $40

This exciting new program will provide a structured workout program as well as an educational nutrition component. A registered dietician from the Hanover Hospital will provide nutrition sessions throughout the program. This six week program is available for children ages 7-13 who have completed the Winter Bus-In program or have completed a Y Kids Orientation. This program will be offered to all new and existing members that are seeking some guidance with their exercise routine and or would like to start a healthy eating plan. YOUTH SPORTS We are proud of the growth and popularity of our Sports Department and are excited about the opportunity to offer a wide variety of youth sports programs and/or leagues. Highlighted below are our programs and leagues, but more specific information can be found on our website; www.hanoverymca.org. Our options for youth can be categorized into two formats; programs and leagues. Programs are coached by paid YMCA employees and participants practice once per week and focus on learning the fundamentals of the sport. Each participant in the programs receive a tee-shirt and participation award. Leagues are coordinated by a YMCA employee but participants are placed on teams based on their age and coached by volunteers who are trained and supervised by the coordinator. Practices occur at least once per week (depending on the age) and games are played on Saturday mornings (exception is U6 Soccer which play games on Friday nights). Each participant receives a team tee-shirt prior to the first game and a participation award at the end of the season. It is very important for league participants’ parents to review the website and registration forms for special information including parent meetings, coaches meetings, etc. Program participants’ parents need only arrive at their first scheduled practice. Most of our programs and leagues practice and play games at the Hanover facility, but we are offering off-site program and league practice locations in South Hanover and Littlestown for the convenience of our participants and their parents. The South Hanover location will be on the Burkentine & Sons fields located beside Nell’s Shurfine Markets on Baltimore Street and the Littlestown location will be the borough and Y fields. These off-site programs and leagues will be structured exactly the same as the Hanover branch programs with the same staff, same rules, etc. League teams that practice at the off-site locations will still play games at the Hanover branch.

Our adult leagues have grown significantly due to the variety, facilities, staff, and most importantly the sportsmanship of the participating teams. All our leagues have playoffs which most teams participates in. Participating teams are also updated weekly via email on league standings, weekly results, and scoring leaders (if applicable). All league champions will be recognized on plaques located outside of the gymnasium and discounts for the next adult league registration. Sponsors are welcomed. ATTENTION: If you are interested in playing in any of the leagues but don’t have a team, please contact George O’Brien III, Operations Director/Sports at gobrien@hanoverymca.org to be listed as a free agent.

Six levels of swim ability are included in this program, ranging from beginner to the advanced swimmer. POOL BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Two hour party: 1 hr/pool and 1 hr/party room. Parties may be booked in either pool, the J.William Warehime Foundation Warm Water Pool is exclusive and can only be booked certain times during the weekend. STINGRAY PRE-COMPETITIVE SWIM PROGRAM
Perfect for swimmers that would like to learn the four main strokes and desire to swim competitively. This program is pre-team and will focus on stroke technique, starts, turns, nutrition, and dry land conditioning. Children must be able to swim independently, without floatation.
