RIDE REFINEMENTS Outlander is undeniably easy on the eyes. With its extraordinary ride quality, it appeals to your other senses as well. And to help soften road noise and vibration, dynamic dampers muffle suspension cross members and the rear differential. ECOLOGY ENGINEERING FOR THE ROAD AHEAD The Outlander is one of the most fuel-efficient standard 7-passenger CUVs in its class.1 How did we do it? We started by engineering a rigid, but lightweight frame thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not only easier to move, but also takes better advantage of engine power by minimizing body flex. Next, we reduced wind resistance by streamlining the front fascia and the body panels. And, along with a sleek exterior, we gave Outlander an advanced ECO Mode feature that helps improve fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions.1,2

ECO DRIVE SUPPORT SYSTEM When its ECO mode is engaged, the Outlander helps you drive in a more environmentally-friendly fashion by slightly reducing engine power on initial acceleration and the air-flow volume of the air conditioner. Plus, on vehicles equipped with Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC), the ECO mode allows Outlander to function as a 2WD vehicle until sensors determine that 4WD is necessary. The result is not only better fuel economy, but also lower CO2 emissions.1,2

2.4-LITER MIVEC ENGINE Outlander’s standard 2.4-liter, 166 horsepower aluminumblock 4-cylinder engine features a continuously variable valve lift system. This advanced technology is called MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) and employs a single mechanism to vary the valve lift and timing for optimum engine “breathing.” The result is more responsive acceleration, reduced emissions, and enhanced fuel economy.

3.0-LITER V6 ENGINE The sporty Outlander GT boasts a 24-valve, 3.0-liter V6 MIVEC engine that produces a full 224 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 215 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,750 rpm. This powerful engine utilizes low viscosity engine oil and iridium spark plugs to help maximize fuel efficiency. Plus, a refined 6-speed automatic transmission helps deliver improved torque and fuel efficiency.

CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION One of the smoothest and most efficient transmissions available, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) operates on a pulley system, allowing infinite variability between the highest and lowest ratios. Instead of shifting gears, it adapts to changing vehicle speeds and helps keep the engine operating efficiently.

SAFETY ENGINEERED FOR YOUR SAFETY The Outlander is a clinic in advanced safety technologies. In fact, Outlander has been an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ recipient for four years running.* To begin with, it’s built with Mitsubishi’s RISE construction (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution). Into this strong foundation we then added an array of available and standard safety features, such as seven standard airbags,3 Automatic High Beam (AHB) headlights,4 Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) with pedestrian detection capability,5 Blind Spot Warning (BSW)6 with Lane Change Assist (LCA)7 and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA),8 Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC),9 Lane Departure Warning (LDW),10 and a Multi-View Camera system,11 which provides both 360 degree and bird’s-eye images. REINFORCED IMPACT SAFETY EVOLUTION RISE engineering helps provide occupant protection in the event of a collision. RISE combines energy-absorbing front and rear structures with a rigid occupant cell. Along with reinforcing bars in the doors and energy-absorbing materials in the side pillars, the Outlander’s RISE body features high-tensile strength steel that reduces weight while helping to protect occupants in the event of a collision.

SEVEN STANDARD AIRBAGS Outlander’s standard Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) features seven airbags, including dual-stage front airbags with a driver’s seat position sensor, driver and passenger seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags, and a driver’s knee airbag.3

LED HEADLIGHTS When it comes to illumination, available LED headlights and fog lights are the cutting edge. They enhance your ability to see potential road hazards or obstructions ahead, and at greater distances. Plus, LED lights draw less power from the battery and are generally more reliable than conventional lights.

FORWARD COLLISION MITIGATION The available Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) system utilizes both laser radar and camera technology to determine if a frontal collision with a vehicle or pedestrian is imminent. If so, it warns the driver with audible and visual signals, and automatically applies moderate to emergency braking to reduce the severity of the collision and, if possible, avoid the collision.5

BLIND SPOT WARNING WITH LANE CHANGE ASSIST AND REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT These active safety features are all designed to monitor areas in your blind spots as you drive down the road, change lanes or back out of a parking spot. These advanced features help check for hard-to-see vehicles that are too close to or approaching your Outlander. Should a vehicle be detected, the systems warn you both audibly and visually.6,7,8 Nice to know we’ve got your back.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL The available Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) uses radar to detect a car ahead and maintain a preset distance between you and that car. If the car ahead speeds up, slows down or moves out of your lane, the system will adjust your speed accordingly, returning to the speed you’ve selected when it’s safe to do so.9

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING Most traffic accidents are due to driver error or simple inattention. Outlander’s available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) feature helps reduce the potential dangers associated with drifting out of your lane, warning you with both a display and audible warning if the system senses your Outlander departing from its established lane.10

MULTI-VIEW CAMERA SYSTEM This available feature displays what’s seen by cameras mounted on the front, rear and sides of the vehicle. Views from these multiple angles — including a bird’s-eye view — can be shown in various combinations on the Outlander’s audio display screen to help you park or back up more safely.11

ACCOMMODATION ALL THE COMFORTS, AWAY FROM HOME Outlander is the compact utility vehicle that’s big on amenities. With the impressive list of technologies and conveniences it offers, you can be sure that, when you’re in an Outlander, you’ll never be out of your comfort zone.

SMARTPHONE LINK DISPLAY AUDIO With all the communication and entertainment options offered by our smartphones these days, we can sometimes get distracted while driving. Our available Smartphone Link Display Audio system allows you to maintain caution behind the wheel while enjoying your smartphone’s convenience features in your car. This advanced feature supports Apple CarPlay™ and lets you access Apple Music® and Maps, make phone calls, and send messages all through the touch panel, or with your voice using Siri®.12 The system also supports Android Auto™.13 Simply press the Push To Talk button to talk to Google and access all the most commonly used features on the Android™ platform, such as Google Play Music, Google Maps, and Hangouts.13

THIRD-ROW SEAT VERSATILITY The standard third-row seats enhance not only vehicle occupancy, but also versatility. They’re split 50/50 and can be easily stowed with the pull of a single fold-andstore strap, or quickly returned to their upright position by raising the seatback. Additionally, the 60/40 split and fold second-row seats give you numerous passenger and payload configurations to choose from.

FAST-KEY PASSIVE ENTRY SYSTEM WITH PUSH BUTTON START Outlander’s FAST-Key (Free-hand Advanced Security Transmitter) makes vehicle entry easy. Unlock the doors by simply pressing the button on either front door or the trunk lever. Starting the engine is also push-button easy with the keys tucked safely away in a pocket or purse.

WELL-APPOINTED STEERING WHEEL Outlander’s handsome steering wheel offers a host of amenities right at your fingertips. Mounted on the wheel are controls that allow you to operate the vehicle’s audio system, Bluetooth® wireless technology15 and cruise control features. There’s also an available heated steering wheel option on SEL and standard on GT trims, and standard tilt and telescoping functionality, which makes it easy for those who share their Outlander with other drivers to find that perfect driving position.

ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE WITH AUTO HOLD To help keep your Outlander from moving while parked, S-AWC models are equipped with an Electric Parking Brake. A convenient, simple switch on the center console replaces the traditional manual parking brake lever. Auto Hold, when activated, is an extension of the Electric Parking Brake system, holding the Outlander stationary at traffic lights — even if you release your foot from the brake pedal. Pressing the accelerator releases the brakes, and you’re on your way. 16

Adding to Outlander’s many conveniences is an available automatic power remote liftgate. Conveniently open or close the liftgate with either the key fob, or with buttons mounted on the dashboard or the liftgate.

This standard feature gives front-seat occupants customized comfort. The front vents are divided into separate systems with separate temperature controls, so the driver and front passenger can each adjust the environment on their side of the vehicle to their comfort level.

ALL-WHEEL CONTROL AND SUPER ALL-WHEEL CONTROL With a long history of all-wheel drive systems, our road-handling credentials are legendary. Outlander’s available All-Wheel Control (AWC) system continually monitors the road, and intelligently transfers power and braking to the wheels with the most traction to improve handling and performance without drastically reducing efficiency. Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC), available on SE, SEL and standard on GT, is our most advanced form of vehicle control systems. It’s an integration of several advanced technologies that together take full advantage of the engine’s power. The Active Front Differential (AFD) distributes engine power between left and right on the front axle. Active Stability Control (ASC) helps keep the vehicle on its intended path when cornering, and the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), along with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), improves control and stability under hard braking. With the push of a button, the driver can select from four S-AWC modes to help achieve maximum available traction regardless of surface conditions. Those modes include Normal Mode, Snow Mode, Lock Mode and AWC ECO Mode.

NORMAL MODE Normal Mode is employed to help maximize fuel efficiency and driving comfort on regular asphalt roads, wet or dry.

SNOW MODE Snow Mode is engaged on ice and snow, or whenever the road surface conditions are extremely slippery.

LOCK MODE Lock Mode locks in full 4-wheel drive capability to help maximize traction on unpredictable road surfaces.

AWC ECO MODE AWC ECO Mode helps maximize fuel economy by making more efficient 2-wheel drive the priority, engaging the 4-wheel drive only if the wheels begin to slip.
