GREYMOOR FARM, sixty-five acres of lush rolling pastures with a private lake and abundant wildlife is conveniently located thirty minutes south of the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport. A private facility, owned by Mike and Donna Hentges, Greymoor is home to Multi-National Champion Arabian stallion FIRST CYTE+, along with a small group of carefully selected broodmares and their foals. With over twenty acres of land in fenced pasture, the horses are turned out seven hours a day then returned to the comfort of their stalls in the evening. Their barn boasts concrete stalls with stall mats, custom metal bars, ceiling fans and air conditioning.
The breeding barn is fully equipped for the collection, processing and shipping of cooled semen and the processing of frozen semen. It contains a well stocked pharmacy and a colostrum bank. The staff at Greymoor handle all aspects of the breeding program including collecting the stallion and inseminating and foaling the mares. Both barns, the stallion stall and the foaling stalls have video cameras. An extra measure of protection is provided by Stella, our resident guardian, who has a “love affair� every year with the new foals.
FIRST CYTE+ is turned out every day in a private pasture that overlooks one of the mare pastures. In the barn, his stall shares a barred wall with a young gelding who is his buddy. The foals born at Greymoor are handled daily and start their leading lessons at one week of age. A Greymoor youngster is ready to take on the world by the time they are six months old. They will have been body clipped and bathed, will stand tied in a stall and are generally good citizens. Greymoor is truly a little piece of heaven. Every day is a gift with the change of seasons, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, lake views and pastures of contented mares with their foals at their sides. Deer, coyotes, hawks and wild turkeys are frequent visitors. Visitors are welcome at any time. Come meet FIRST CYTE+ and stroll the pastures with the mares and foals.

FIRST CYTE+ is a beautiful individual who honestly represents and consistently reproduces the characteristics of his ancestors. Generations of champions in both halter and performance live in him and he is passing on those traits to new generations. FIRST CYTE+ is the breed standard with a beautiful wedge shaped head, big eyes, a deep jowl, and a small muzzle with large nostrils. He has a balanced body with a strong loin and short back and correct legs with good bone. And let’s not forget the long, fine neck and the signature length and break at the poll that is nothing short of amazing. “Calvin” is an intelligent, consistent stallion who has gotten better every year. Under saddle he is both beautiful and athletic. His attitude toward life in general is unbelievable. He is a gentleman in the training and breeding barns and a “no-holds-barred” competitor in the show ring with a special show ring quality that makes him unique. Call it “heart” or call it “charisma”, but whatever you call itit is irresistible. As a show horse he amassed an impressive set of credentials including: 2000 U. S. GREYMOOR has a small but carefully selected herd of broodmares. Most of the mares have their own show records. Knowing that “like begets like”, Donna chose foundation mares in which the physical characteristics she sought were not only in the pedigree, but were also visibly apparent. “I searched for mares that had the lines that my research indicated should be great crossed with FIRST CYTE+, and then limited my search to proven producers or the daughters of proven producers. I am not afraid of buying an older mare and giving her a home for life.” All Greymoor broodmares have at least one line to *Bask++ and a number are carefully linebred to him through some of his best sons, all of them sires of National Champions: Bask Clasix, Ariston, The Chief Justice, Safire, etc. Greymoor has two mares, Silver And Sable and LF Silkn Satin, who have the highly valued nick of *Bask++ on *Witez II mares close up in their pedigrees. This is getting really rare in the breed but is very valuable because of the linebreeding to Ofir through two different sons.
FIRST CYTE+ has also produced beautifully for Greymoor with their Padron Psyche daughter. Donna recently acquired a Fame VF daughter that she believes will be a perfect fit as her dam is a Bask Clasix daughter, Bask Clasix being the sire of Greymoor’s most famous foundation mare, Klassic. The pastures at Greymoor now contain not only the foundation broodmares, but also the FIRST CYTE+ daughters that have been retained for the breeding program. Whether they are bay, chestnut or gray, these are some of the most beautiful mares you could ever hope to see.
KLASSIC (Bask Clasix x Khemogina) was a Canadian National Top Ten Mare, an Aristocrat Mare, a Dam of Distinction, a Minnesota Breeders Broodmare Elite and, at the time of her death, one of the breed’s LEADING LIVING DAMS OF CHAMPIONS. She produced a remarkable nine champions, all regional winners, four National winners, and three National winner producers. She is the dam of U.S. National Champion TF Queen Ahearts and Multi-National Champion Drama Qyeen. This very special little mare ruled the broodmare pasture and the hearts of all at Greymoor Farm. It was a privilege to be Klassic’s caretaker for the last years of her life. We all wish that privilege could have lasted longer. Klassic left us a living legacy in three daughters by FIRST CYTE+; (pictured on the facing page) Harleqyin, Drama Qyeen and Clearly Klassic. These beautiful daughters have been retained for Greymoor’s breeding program.

THE SECOND GENERATION of the Greymoor Farm breeding program has gotten off to a great start. With the first foals out of the FIRST CYTE+ x Klassic daughters exceeding expectations, Greymoor’s goal of producing superior quality in each subsequent generation is already being met. FIRST CYTE+ was consistent in passing his best qualities on to his daughters and they in turn have passed those on to their foals. Bred to three different stallions each of these fillies clearly represent their dam, their granddam and grandsire with the added qualities of their sires layered in.
