CenterStaging

LH2

CENTERSTAGING IS ONE of LA's premier rehearsal and backline facilities, specialising in production and tech support for TV and live performances. Known for its state-ofthe-art rehearsal studios and extensive range of musical instruments, its backline gear is used by numerous tours, concerts, and events. CenterStaging Musical Productions (CSMP) opened in 1994 and established itself on the rehearsal facility circuit, but went out of business in 2007. Two years later, a group of investors purchased certain CSMP assets to form CenterStaging LLC. With the addition of artist relations offices for some of the largest manufacturers in the musical equipment industry, CenterStaging increased its suite of services while maintaining its established decorum.

WITH A GROUND floor area of 1,668.8sqm (17,693sqft) and a height clearance of 18.1m (60ft), LH2 has room for even the most outlandish productions. The facilities make use of a rigging grid that is capable of holding in excess of 60 tonnes, designed to ensure clients have the versatility to use the studio to its maximum potential. LH2 is also able to arrange catering, local crew, runners and riggers, along with hotel accommodation, and any transport requirements. There is also access to a fully equipped workshop and on-site technician to aid with any fabrication requirements that arise during rehearsals. The facility is also within easy reach of many major suppliers for those last minute additions or changes that occur during production preparation.

Bakehouse BAKEHOUSE STUDIOS IS not your typical rehearsal complex. The entrance opens into a lush courtyard where tables and chairs are boothed by walls of vegetation. The studios cater to a diverse range of acts from Melbourne’s small venue scene through to international touring artists as diverse as Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, John Cale, Elvis Costello, Judas Priest, Nick Cave, Beck, Cat Power, Dave Stewart and Vance Joy. It offers pre-production

options to suit all budgets and line-ups. Set in the rustic surrounds of a big old house and stables, where each room has been re-imagined by top-end visual artists, Bakehouse is a truly creative environment. The unique and beautiful interiors feature in many film and photo shoots. Bakehouse Studio’s owners, Quincy McLean & Helen Marcou, are this year’s recipients of the prestigious Sidney Myer Performing Arts Facilitator’s prize for their outstanding services to the music community.
