asks & Flights Wine Tasting Room held their One Year Anniversary Party on June 29, with a ‘Roaring 20s’ theme. The look was very important- swanky decor and speakeasy vibes gave the event a hint of exclusivity and flare. Upon arrival the guests walked down a red carpet and up to the velvet rope where they were greeted by Tommy “T” the “Totaler.” Lady “I’va Gunn” was at the door to take their personal password and retrieve their custom Cotton Club playing chip. The actors were provided by Pensacola’s finest group, Improbable Cause Murder Mystery Theatre. Custom Cotton Club decorations were created by Fabadashery’s. Poker Productions LLC provided several card game stations to give the night a fun finish, and guests were invited to play Texas Hold Em’, Crapps, and Black Jack. A 50/50 raffle was held, with the benefit going toward the Junior League of Pensacola’s Kids in the Kitchen program. The Junior League of Pensacola’s Kids in the Kitchen program began in 2015 and has remained committed to fostering healthy eating and living. During this short time thousands of school children from Escambia area have participated in workshops and gained valuable insight on nutrition and physical education.

T
he Studer Community Institute hosted their 3rd annual Light Up Learning fundraising gala to support early brain development on June 20. Each year the Studer Community Institute hosts a series of events, to raise awareness and funding to support their mission to improve the quality of life in our community. Light Up Learning is their signature event, and included live music, early learning inspired food,and live and silent auctions. Once again, SCI Board Member and recently retired Super Bowl Champion Josh Sitton hosted the event. In the first three years of a child’s life, 85 percent of the human brain develops, laying the basic wiring that helps make children ready to succeed in school and life. SCI strives to make this happen by providing brain development education for Escambia County mothers within 48 hours of childbirth, offering parent education for children living within our county’s pockets of poverty, and building learning into the external environment across the community.

he Rotary Club of Gulf Breeze held their Change of Command Ceremony on June 25 at the Pensacola Yacht Club. New officers and directors were appointed, and the distinguished Rotarian of the Year, as well as Service Above Self awards were presented. The Rotary Club of Gulf Breeze appoints new officers and directors annually to serve one-year terms. Appointed club officers and directors included John Adams as President, Bobby Potomski as President-Elect, Victor Bindi as Immediate Past President, Dale Duce as Vice President, Patricia Russo as Executive Secretary, Michael Egan as Treasurer (Disbursing), Michael Hoeflich as Treasurer (Receiving); TJ Edwards as Sergeant-atArms, Jim Reeves as Mr. Sunshine, Beau Pollard as Membership Director, Jeanne Prange as Club Service Director, Patrick Saden as Youth Services Director, Guy Gascard as Vocational Service Director, Pam Caddell as Community Services Director, Jarrod Dawson as Grants Director, Brooke Germann as Foundation Director, Brittany Simpson as Public Relations Director, Jeremy Diamond as Communications Director, and Ed Gray III as the Gulf Breeze Rotary Scholarship Foundation Treasurer. The club takes great pride in recognition of outstanding leaders and students in Gulf Breeze. The club’s signature fundraiser, the annual Gumbo Cookoff, has allowed the club to donate more than $800,000 in scholarships to over 190 high school seniors since 1986.

he Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their Chamber Brew event at Perfect Plain Brewing Company on June 19. The Chamber partnered with Perfect Plain to announce a special lager created to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Gulf Breeze Chamber, which will be officially recognized in August. The name of the brand new beer was “30 Down,� to recognize the established partnerships that the Gulf Breeze Chamber has built, supported, and participated in over the last three decades. The event was free and open to the public. Commemorative pint glasses were available for purchased in advance at the Chamber office, or at any future networking events for $20 each, and included a free beer at the event. Glasses will continue to be available for purchase throughout the year, and will help raise funds for the new Chamber Foundation Fundraiser. The mission of the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce is to develop an attractive business environment that provides opportunity for economic growth, while improving the quality of life and enhancing the standard of living for the entire Gulf Breeze area. The Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce is the premier resource for business and community partnerships. ovenant Care and West Florida Hospital proudly presented the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Covenant Care Center for Hospice on June 27. The center features 11 unique rooms created to allow hospice patients to feel more at ease with little touches of home in each space. The center is a culmination of all the lessons Covenant Care has learned over the years about end of life care and designed to help ease the burden of patients and their families. The tremendous support of the local community helps provide this covenant to the community, and their motto is “No one dies alone with Covenant Care.” West Florida Hospital and Covenant Care have partnered for over 15 years to provide committed care to all human lives, and bring awareness to the impact of hospice care. The team focuses on building relationships, becoming an extension of family, and improving quality of life. The mission of both West Florida Hospital and Covenant Care is to unite and align to provide the standard of care, world class service, and outstanding atmosphere to the world’s most vulnerable population. Covenant Care’s Vice President for Advancement, Aaron West, said, “This is as much about families and community as it is about Covenant Care. n Saturday June 22, Mr. Robbins’ Neighborhood hosted its 3rd annual Casino Night at DeLuna Winery. This evening was full of blackjack, roulette, and food provided by Four Seasons and Emerald Coast Bakery, all to help benefit Mr. Robbins’ Neighborhood. Mr. Robbins’ Neighborhood is an organization to help and mentor students, to provide them with life skills and prepare them for future opportunities. They have two major programs- Game Plan Camp, which is based on football fitness, training and high school success strategies, and the Playbook program, which is a nine-month long program that helps high school athletes challenge their own dreams by learning the business of sports, as well as interests off the field. It also gets the students involved with community projects and college readiness.

he Organization of Networking Entrepreneurs hosted their evening networking event called The ONE Social Hour on July 16, held at Gulf Coast Brewery. It is a free chapter of The ONE held once per month as an after-hours social event for every individual, even if they are not a part of The ONE. Attendees are encouraged to bring business cards and network with likeminded, professional business friends. It is a great way to build relationships, and of course promote new business within the local community. The social hour was created as an opportunity to bring all chapters of The ONE together, and also for business professionals interested who cannot attend the weekly lunch meetings. This chapter is 100% free to be a part of, and meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The mission of The ONE is to facilitate an environment that promotes building relationships with each other. Members also improve their public speaking skills and receive an opportunity to build a sales team, without having a payroll.

eeing the sunny yellow hue of the mimosa cocktail, there’s little wonder that this bright, refreshing drink bears the name of a flower of the same name—not to mention the same color. In the same way the flowers themselves seem to light up the branches of the trees from which they burst forth, the drink seems to light up the palate, bursting with the brightness of bubbles that add effervescent appeal to the sweet acidity and tartness of citrus juices. So just where did this ingenious drink originate? Credit the creative drinkers and thinkers of Spain, where oranges and sparkling wines like cava are produced in abundance. After all, when life gives you oranges...add fizzy alcohol? Can’t argue with that! Traditionally speaking, mimosas are most often created using one part champagne or sparkling wine to one part orange juice, though it can be made with the juices of another citrus fruit, like grapefruit. But—especially here in Florida, where we tend to have a thing for oranges—we’re all about the classic, mixing up OJ with our fave champs or sparkling wines to create the perfect way to start the day (did someone say “brunch?”), celebrate the blessed union of two souls, or indulge during our time in first-class (or, for those of us in coach, pretending we’re in first class…). But who says you can’t have a mimosa any time? With so much vitamin C, the case can be made for the mimosa as a healthy drink, don’t you think? And who doesn’t love being healthy? It’s also an extremely simple recipe, as it literally takes only two ingredients to make. One part to one part, though some recipes call for the ratio to skew more on the side of adding more alcohol, depending on the desired level of sweetness—not that we have a problem with that. It’s all about your personal preference. What makes it seem so special is, of course, the celebratory feel of the champagne or sparkling wine and the champagne flute that the drink is traditionally served in. One of the great things about this fizzy drink is the fact that—aside from being almost idiot-proof— it can be made relatively inexpensively, and no one will be the wiser. Because you’re mixing your ingredients, it doesn’t require the use of premium quality champagne or sparkling wine, which means you can save your pennies and still come out looking like quite the cocktail genius. There is, however, something to be said for not going too cheap, as those bargain-basement bubblies will bring you nothing but headaches later on (literally). It’s important to start with cold ingredients and keep them chilled until you’re ready to make the drink. And that champagne flute isn’t just because we want to be all fancy—it actually serves a purpose, as the tall design of the glass helps retain bubbles. If you don’t have a flute, use a wine glass. Not quite as effective, but still good. Method is important here, as well. Unless you like having overflow, pour the sparkling wine into the glass first, then follow it with the juice. It’s also key to make like a beermeister and hold the glass at a slight tilt as you pour the wine, which will preserve those bright little bubbles we all love so much. Whether you’re a bruncher or an equal-opportunity sipper, mimosas have a way of brightening and lightening any occasion. So raise a glass to OJ (and champagne) all day!

allery Night Pensacola is a nonprofit organization with a dedicated goal of inspiring culture, engagement, and the practice of arts of all types in an entertaining event for all ages and walks of life. Monthly events focus on specific themes, highlight featured artists, and recruit the best creators our area has to offer. On July 19, the streets of Historic Downtown Pensacola came alive for the ‘Blues & Jazz’ themed Gallery Night. During Gallery Night, local galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and bars opened their doors to the night air as visitors and locals flooded the streets to enjoy music, art and cuisine. Café tables were set out on brick sidewalks and presented the perfect place to enjoy a coffee or cocktail, as the sounds of live music and a spirited crowd fill the air. Each month, the event provides space for eight nonprofits, helping them share their story with a wider audience. Several food truck vendors were also set up in order to provide guests with a variety of refreshments during their visit. This unique event offers attendees the perfect chance to get an inside look at Pensacola’s lively downtown sector and thriving art scene. Streets close to traffic at 5PM, but there is ample parking available on side streets. The party officially wraps up at 9PM, but most restaurants, bars, and local businesses extend their hours to promote the excitement of late-night crowds.

he first soft opening for The Establishment 1898 was held on June 21. The event went over well with a little over 75 patrons in attendance throughout the evening. The goal is to have a total of seven soft openings before the official grand opening; in order to give potential clientele of the upscale, private, cocktail and social venue ample opportunity to enjoy the ambiance and meet the team. The front lounge combines intimacy and comfort with the personalized service and attention to detail that are the hallmarks of “The Establishment.” The Establishment is for guests seeking a heightened level of luxury with a dedicated concierge who attends to the individual needs of each guest in a well-appointed, relaxed setting and environment. The Establishment 1898 was created by Stephen Simpson, with the intention to offer a one of a kind experience with every visit, while catering to the unique needs of each client. Simpson says, “We want to make sure everyone gets the full experience without being overwhelmed with too big of a crowd.” The Establishment is set in the Historical District of downtown Pensacola, on the corner of Baylen and Intendencia Streets, and is a fresh addition to the revitalization of the Downtown Metropolitan area.

he 29th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet was hosted by the NAACP Pensacola Branch #5124 at the Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Resource Center on July 12. The Pensacola Branch of NAACP celebrated the Centennial of their founding year, and their commitment to community service. The Freedom Fund presented several local students with scholarships to help them be successful on their college journey. Award recipients were recognized for their exceptional acts of commitment and contribution to the community. These scholarships are designed to provide students with funding for needs they might encounter on their path, and can be utilized for things like books, tuition, equipment, transportation costs, meals, and various other supplies to promote productivity. The keynote speaker for the evening was Rev. Dr. Thomas Beavers, of New Rising Star Church in Birmingham, AL. Rodney Jones, President of the Pensacola Branch #5124 said, “This banquet recognizes the support provided from all walks of life and ethnic groups, and we thank the community for their gifts to help us provide more students with the tools they need to be successful in the community.�

ensabulls and Seville Quarter recreated the Running of the Bulls for the 9th year in Historic Downtown Pensacola on July 20. The Seville Quarter Encierro featured a meaner breed of bulls, portrayed by the Pensacola Roller Gurlz, and ladies from other area roller-derby leagues. The menacing derby bulls were equipped with roller skates, horns, and plastic toy bats. There was no cost for “spectators� for the event, but runners or walkers had to register prior to July 18 to participate for $25. This provided participants with the St. Fermin Commemorative t-shirt, as well as a wristband for complimentary beer and soft drinks. The first 300 registered participants received a free St. Fermin bandana. This year, the Running of the Bulls benefited the USO of Northwest Florida. USO centers provide a warm and comforting place where service members can connect to loved ones via Internet or phone, play video games, catch a movie, have a snack, or just put up their feet and relax. USO centers can be found locally at Pensacola International Airport, Ft. Walton Beach Destin Airport, and NAS Pensacola. All proceeds from registrations were donated to the USO.

erving out the simply stated but exceptionally difficult mission of “Following the example of Christ by embracing all God’s children … one child, one family at a time,” the United Methodist Children’s Home provides homes, hope, and healing in Northwest FL to families, children, and youth impacted by abuse and neglect. Agency-wide services include foster care (traditional and therapeutic), adoption services, teen center, residential homes, transitional living services, family preservation and reunification, and higher education scholarship programs. Homes for children and youth in need are provided through their foster care program and teen group home. Their family preservation program provides targeted, specific interventions for families who are at risk for having children removed as well as with families working toward reunifying with their children. Their Teen Center provides

mentoring and educational support services for youth impacted by the foster care system. Children served range from ages 0-21. Referrals are received from the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Families First Network (FFN). UMCH is licensed through DCF, contracted through FFN, and serves an average of 125-150 individuals at any given time in Northwest FL. Their programs span 36 counties in Alabama and four in Northwest FL. The NWFL ministry currently has program offices and staff serving children and families in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties. Exec Director, United Methodist Children’s Home - NWFL Ministry Tell us about your role with UMCH.
I joined the UMCH leadership team in April 2018. I was not looking for a job, but trying to refer a qualified candidate for the position. After learning about UMCH’s history, impact, and plans to expand foster care programs in Northwest FL, it became clear to my heart that this was an opportunity for me professionally and personally. I am a former foster parent who adopted my son at the age of two. I know first-hand the challenges and rewards of being a foster parent and have managed non-profits working with vulnerable populations most of my career. What sort of staff does UMCHNWFL have locally?
Our corporate office is located in Montgomery, AL, with administrative offices in both Birmingham and Fort Walton Beach. Locally, a staff of 25 are living and serving Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties. That number should grow in 2020 due to increased needs in Okaloosa and Walton Counties. To better represent the Northwest FL community, we are in the process of developing a volunteer leadership board from the four county area. Current leadership includes Jerry Maygarden and Kim Stagner (Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties) and Jeff Dannelly, Kirby Williams, and Greg Crouch (Okaloosa and Walton Counties). Volunteers are limited at our program locations due to sensitivity, privacy, and safety issues. We do have many community advocates and supporters in our schools and churches who raise funds, collect necessary donations (for our foster families and our teens), provide tutoring, fellowship and social opportunities. How is UMCHNWFL funded?
Collectively, the state of Florida pays about 60% of what it costs to run the programs, and funding is always shifting and fluctuating. The remainder is from donors and churches from Alabama and Florida. What is the impact of UMCH in our community in the last year?
• 15,121 days of foster care for 116 children and youth from Pensacola to Destin area. • 2,469 days of care for 18 teen girls in foster care at our residential home in Milton. • 389 family members were served (92 families) through our intensive, in-home prevention and reunification treatment in all four counties. • 29 teenagers in foster care received after school and summer care empowerment through our Teen Center in Crestview. What is the most rewarding part of your involvement with the organization?
Realizing the impact on kids when they finally have a safe and loving home, regular meals, and a place to rest. After that initial
realization that they are in a safe place, they began the process of healing and growing. They have structure, learn appropriate expectations and relationships, and live with people who advocate for their needs in every aspect of their lives. It’s life changing for them; not an overnight transformation, but it is amazing to watch the healing and growth unfold. What challenges does your organization face?
Right now - community awareness beyond community churches. Northwest FL is full of non-profit agencies benefiting children and families. Many of these agencies have designated staff to interact with the community. Because our headquarters and leadership were primarily located in Montgomery, we did not have ongoing and focused community development locally. While we are a vital and trusted agency among our partners and within our industry, the majority of our constituents are members of the United Methodist Church. We have been very blessed to receive consistent and ongoing support from churches in the Alabama West Florida Conference, but we need to reach and engage the greater community. Not just to impact funding and awareness, but to recruit more foster families, and support foster families. What is one thing you want readers to know about UMCHNWFL?
We are laser focused on healing children who are victims of choices made by adults in their lives. Many have endured unthinkable childhoods, through no fault of their own. Recently, I spoke to a bible school class when one young boy asked me “… aren’t foster kids bad?” That broke my heart as I explained they are not bad kids, but that they had bad things happen to them. They need our love and support to ensure they have what every child deserves; a home, and hope. Whether it’s working with that child’s parents to encourage reunification, or preparing a teenager for the world without a family when they “age out” of the system, every aspect of that child’s healing and growth is the reason we exist. We depend on donors to fill the gap not covered by state funding and for extracurricular activities necessary to encourage social, educational, physical, and spiritual growth. allet Pensacola held their inaugural Mr. Tutu Competition in the Phineas Phogg’s room at Seville Quarter on June 28. The evening was fi lled with supporting gentlemen who love giving back, and were decked out in pink tutus to benefit Ballet Pensacola. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Sid Williams-Heath. Fifteen contestants strutted their unique tutu-based looks on the dance floor in order to gather donations for Ballet Pensacola. Judges for the event were Richard Steinert, Randy Jo McKenzie, and Mike Murdoch. There were 175 guests in attendance, and all proceeds went to benefit Ballet Pensacola Teaching Academy, a professional company of dancers and their mission. Ballet Pensacola’s Academy serves about 300 students each year through its main campus at the Pensacola Cultural Center and additional campuses. Specially trained artistic staff and faculty provide a challenging and enriching dance education through its syllabus-driven programming.

he Permanent Make-up Clinic held their Christmas in July Open House on July 24. The clinic was voted VIP Pensacola’s “Best in Pensacola” this year, and Trinkette Parker felt the best way to show appreciation to her clients was to host a unique open house. The event was held from 10am to 5pm, allowing clients and guests to drop in at their leisure, tour the facility, inquire about services offered, and participate in a giveaway for a free botox treatment. Sorrelli had a pop trunk show for their newest line of jewelry, and representatives were available to provide clients with their very own unique piece. Dr. Chris Croley was on-site to provide special botox and fi ller treatments for the event, Cindy Cassady offered discounts and gift certificates for her laser hair removal practice, and Trinkette Parker was available to provide free consultations on permanent makeup procedures, and schedule future appointments. Trinkette announced her next event, “The Finishing Touch,” will be in October. This event will be focused on spreading awareness about the areole repigmentation procedure, which is a realistic, permanent micropigmentation procedure that helps restore the areola of breast cancer patients after breast reconstruction surgery. Trinkette is able to restore the appearance of the areola, or in some cases recreate the entire areola using 3D pigmentation techniques.

Indie Art Council Pensacola Welcomes Comedy Icon Kevin McDonald “The Kids in the Hall” co-founder will present a comedy workshop and performance at Vinyl Music Hall on Aug. 14 as a prelude to the 2020 Pensacola Comedy Festival Pensacolians will have a unique opportunity to spend time with a comedy innovator when Indie Art Council Pensacola presents a special day-long workshop with “The Kids in the Hall” co-founder Kevin McDonald on Aug. 14 at Vinyl Music Hall, 2 Palafox Place. The day-long workshop will be followed by a full performance by McDonald. The workshop offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn from and work with one of the founding members of one of the most successful and beloved comedy troupes of all time. More than just a lecture, attendees will actually work on creating comedy material with McDonald in the second half of the workshop, and will perform on stage with him at Vinyl Music Hall during the evening show, a truly invaluable experience. In addition to performing with his workshop attendees, McDonald will perform solo material during the evening performance. Pensacola’s own improv comedy troupe, Improvable Cause, will open the show. Enrollment in the workshop is limited to 30 people and is first-come, first-served. Pensacola State Grant Professional To Lead Training Workshop Debbie Douma, Pensacola State College’s dean of grants and federal programs, will share fundraising secrets during a PSC Nonprofit Center for Excellence and Philanthropy workshop. The workshop will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, in Building 21, Room 2142, on the Pensacola campus. Registration is $75 per person. Nonprofit board members and professionals will learn the keys to surviving and sustaining in a grant-seeking world while earning Certified Fund Raising Executive credit through this third offering in a series of workshops designed to increase fundraising acumen. “This workshop will take you beyond Grant Writing 101 and provide your organization with strategies to be competitive in the current climate of the grant seeking world and then to effectively manage any funds received,” said Douma, winner of the National Grant Professional of the Year in 2013 award. Since Douma’s tenure in higher education resource development, Pensacola State has been awarded more than $45 million in competitive grant funding. Navigating the grant-seeking environment and overcoming barriers, building relationships with funders, determining a fundable project or program idea, and grant fund sustainability and management are among the topics to be discussed at the workshop. “The price point and location make these workshops very accessible. I like the one-day structure and the variety of sessions that are offered,” said Heather Moorer, president of the West Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Sunday’s Child Awards $106,000 To Four Pensacola Bay Area Charities To Promote Diversity And Inclusion Four charities across the Pensacola Bay Area received grants from Sunday’s Child, an LGBTQ-focused philanthropic non-profit, to fund initiatives and projects that promote diversity of the LGBTQ community and inspire inclusion throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
The awards were announced after a live vote at Sunday’s Child’s 5th annual membership meeting held Sunday at the Museum of Commerce in downtown Pensacola. Projects and initiatives submitted by the Pensacola Opera, Manna Food Pantries, Golden Elite Track and Field Club, and A HOPE for Santa Rosa County were selected for funding by the 186 members of Sunday’s Child. Each of the four organizations will receive $26,500 to fund their projects. The projects being pursued by the four charities vary in focus. The Pensacola Opera will present three performances of the one act opera titled “As One,” which follows Hannah, a transgender woman, through her discovery of her gender identity and learning how to love herself in a world in which she is not accepted. “We are proud of the work and accomplishments these organizations have already achieved,” said Drew Buchanan, outgoing President of Sunday’s Child. “We are thrilled to see these grants go towards initiatives and projects that further our mission of equality and inclusion.” Launched in 2014, Sunday’s Child is made up of members that donate funds annually. 100 percent of funds donated go towards grant awards, which are determined by the votes of members annually in June. Sunday’s Child has awarded more than $436,000 to Pensacola Bay Area charitable organizations since 2015.

he Pensacola Symphony Orchestra presented the 4th Annual Symphony Sparks & Stars event at the Hunter Amphitheater within the Vince Whibbs Community Maritime Park, on July 4. The beautiful Pensacola Bay served as the backdrop for this free outdoor concert, which honored the United States Armed Forces, and allowed guests to enjoy a fun-filled evening for family and friends to enjoy the talents of our community and salute our great military and nation. The Color Guard presented the colors, and the national anthem was performed to open the concert with honor. The evening featured a mix of patriotic music and popular favorites performed by the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Peter Rubardt. The concert was followed by an awesome fireworks display presented by Sertoma to close out the night.

The audience is given the chance to witness the girls’ major life events in their little black dresses, including their first job interview, first date, first awkward sexual experience, first funeral, and much more. Using hilarious improv, catchy songs, and a heartfelt story, Little Black Dress has made audiences across the globe laugh, cry, and party. This fearlessly funny ladies’ night out musical makes for one wild and unforgettable evening with it’s hilarious show-stopping musical numbers, “Magic Mike”influenced dancing, and loads of audience interaction. Little Black Dress is a full original musical with improv, so the show is different every night. The music is intoxicating, the audience improv can be hysterical, and the sincere moments of heartfelt tenderness meet like never before to create a truly unique night. Danielle Trzcinski, Amanda Barker, Natalie Tenenbaum, and Christopher Bond teamed up to create their idea of a perfect show for every bachelorette party, birthday or date night. T
he Pensacola Little Theatre 23rd Annual Crystal Awards was hosted inside of the Pensacola Cultural Center on July 12. The Crystal Awards was a celebration of artistic excellence and volunteerism throughout the 2018-2019 PLT season. The evening was jam-packed with stories, performances, hugs, and good times, as well as a night of reminiscing, laughing, sharing, and celebrating as each show from the 2018-2019 season was recognized. A cocktail hour was held with mingling of guests, dinner was provided by Moe’s, and awards were presented at 6:45pm. All performers, designers, techies, board members, sponsors, ushers, subscribers, and fans were welcomed to attend. Pensacola Little Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit community theatre which houses nearly 800 volunteers each year, donating nearly 80,000 hours of volunteer service throughout the season. The Board of Trustees and staff of PLT give back and serve their dedicated corps of volunteers annually at the Crystal Awards, featuring complimentary catering, beverages, entertainment, and awards ceremony. Throughout the season, the Artistic Committee, staff, and Board of Trustees votes on specific Artistic Excellence and Service Awards to award the volunteers such as actors, set designers, costumers, directors, stage managers, and musical direction.

What is your hometown, what brought you to PENSACOLA and how long have you been here? I am a Pensacola native born at West Florida Hospital. My husband, James Briscione, and I moved back to Pensacola in July 2018- after sixteen years living in New York City- to open Angelena’s Restaurant. Opening Angelena’s with Quint & Rishy Studer, the Merrill brothers and Jean-Pierre N’Dione is a dream come true! What led you to choose this profession? I wear multiple hats at Angelena’s. I’m the Wine Director, as well as the Director of Marketing and PR; both positions are a perfect fit for me and my love of foreign languages, writing and project development. I’m passionate about spreading the gospel of good food and wine, and both of my positions with Angelena’s allow me to do just that! You’ll see me just about every night in the dining room, educating and talking to both staff and customers about the beauties of Italian wine and how they are the perfect fit for James’ dishes. What do you like best about Pensacola? Pensacola is a rapidly evolving city—there’s palpable excitement surrounding downtown’s transformation and development. To have the opportunity to be part of a city’s renaissance is something that is truly exceptional. Give three words that best describe you. Optimistic. Strong-willed. Intuitive. What are some of your favorite things about Pensacola? Living in a waterfront city with James and our two children, Parker (age 10) and August (age 4), has always been a dream. Pensacola also has this lovely, relaxed vibe that is so different from New York City. James and I feel blessed to return now, in this era of optimism and the city’s development.
My grandfather, Braden Ball, was a pioneer as a newspaper publisher and developer. He respected the “old”- Pensacola’s incredible history- and welcomed and fostered the “new.” I feel I’m carrying on my grandfather’s legacy with Angelena’s. We’ve built a new destination for downtown Pensacola- and it’s a venue with a historic story. I love this city’s rich history and bright future! 90
