Frequently asked quest ions How do we set a date?
What’s the weather like?
Let us have a choice of three dates and we will do our best to arrange your special day on a day that suits you after finding out whether the wedding officer and your chosen venue are available.
Summers are hot or warm, and almost completely rainless from May to mid November. During this period the weather is constant from day to day and almost completely cloudless. Disturbed winter weather rarely lasts more than a day. The average number of daily hours of sunshine ranges from six hours midwinter to twelve or thirteen in Midsummer. For those who find high temperatures unpleasant, the best time to visit North Cyprus is in the spring when the weather is generally sunny and warm and the island is colourful with flowering plants.
Can we travel under our married names? You can travel under any name providing it’s the name on your current passport. Please make sure that your passport has at least six months validity before departing the UK for North Cyprus.
How should I pack my wedding dress for travel? You can purchase special dress travelling boxes from wedding websites and magazines. Also check if your chosen airline has any special facilities for wedding dresses, as some do.
What happens when we arrive in North Cyprus? Check in at your hotel as normal. Our Wedding Planner, who will have made arrangements to meet you prior to your departure from the UK, will meet you very soon after your arrival, probably within the first two days.
Who will marry us? If you are having a church wedding it will be the licenced Chaplain, whereas if you are having a civil wedding it will be an officer from the district office (the Kaymakam office).
How long will the ceremony be? If you are having a church wedding, it will be approximately 40-50 minutes. If you are having a civil wedding it will be in the region of 5-8 minutes. After your civil wedding we strongly recommend that you have a wedding blessing or exchange of vows following the ceremony.
Do you have specialist wedding insurance? Wedding insurance can be purchased from wedding insurance specialists who advertise online and in wedding magazines. Don’t forget to purchase regular travel insurance as well!
Useful Information What’s local life like? Mediterranean hospitality is renowned and a warm and friendly welcome is guaranteed. They are very laid back and things seem to take longer to do as no rush is deemed necessary. During the summer season it is not unusual to see many locals taking their mid day siesta, in main resorts some shops may close between 1- 3 and stay open until late giving everyone the chance to relax and chill out on a hot summer afternoon. Public Holidays which you can obtain from the relevant countries websites, banks and government offices are shut and you may find some services are limited. However, you will not be unduly affected, as beach resorts cater for local holidaymakers during these periods and many restaurants, bars and shops do not close.
Important note about duty-free purchases: Passengers travelling back from Ercan North Cyprus on flights involving an aircraft change in Istanbul, should refrain from duty‑free liquid purchases from Ercan as they are liable for confiscation at Istanbul. We suggest passengers do their duty free purchases in Istanbul airport.
Money The local currency in North Cyprus and Turkey is the Turkish Lira. Sterling and Euros can be exchanged or accepted in most establishments although banks or exchange shops may be more favourable. Credit cards are widely used in all of the resorts that we offer, or cash machines are located in the town centres where cash can be withdrawn in the local currency directly from your bank. Scottish and Irish bank notes are NOT accepted in North Cyprus and Turkey.
What happens when I arrive at my destination? Upon your arrival at your destination airport you will be met by our transfer representatives, who will drive you to your hotel please look out for the Green Island Holidays sign or your name(s) on a board. On your return journey - your representative will advise you one day prior to your departure about your pick up time. If you are on a two centre holiday the majority of our guests make their own way to and from the hotel in Istanbul we therefore advise only to get an official taxi or enquire with the information help desk who may advise of alternative transport to the city centre all guests that are travelling to Turkey also pay £10 Sterling visa on entry please get this before proceeding to immigration.
When will I get my travel documents? When you first make your reservation, we will send your booking confirmation/ invoice, confirming all your travel details, within 48 hours. Travel documents are sent within 10 days of departure. Please ensure you check the names and details are correct as failure to do so can incur charges, as well as refusal of boarding aircraft. All online bookings will be sent by email.
Health & EHIC card At the time of publication of this brochure, no compulsory vaccinations are required for any of our destinations. Medical regulations are updated from time to time, therefore, we advise you to consult your doctor prior to departure as to whether the Department of Health Considers any inoculations necessary. All UK residents can apply for an EHIC card (formerly known as an E111), entitling you to some medical treatment at certain hospitals at a reduced or zero cost when temporarily visiting an EU country. You can apply for a card free of charge via their website www.ehic.org.uk or by calling 0845 606 2030. You can also pick up an application form from the Post Office. However, it is essential that you take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover you for medical emergencies.
What’s driving like in North Cyprus and Turkey? Driving in North Cyprus is a pleasure, firstly they drive on the left, traffic is very light and in some cases non existent and parking is not restricted – cost of hiring a car is very reasonable therefore highly recommended if not a necessesity as public transport is not consistent. UK Driving licence is all that is required. Driving in Turkey on the other hand can be very stressful and chaotic especially in Istanbul, public transport is excellent and very economical too.
Do we have 100% financial protection? The air holiday packages in this brochure are ATOL protected by the Civil Aviation Authority under our licence no 4846. please check with our booking conditions.
Legal Requirement s Civil ceremony
Church wedding (Anglican or Catholic)
With both of you being British passport-holders & having no Turkish Cypriot relatives To make a reservation, the following are required: • Copies of both passports • Copies of both birth certificates • Letter of parental consent if under 18 years of age • Copies of divorce papers if applicable or death certificate if previous partner is deceased • Names of the two witnesses & copies of their passports Dated within three months of the wedding day, the following are required: • The original copy of certificates of non-impediment for the bride and groom obtained from a solicitor or notary and stamped at the consulate offices of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus (TRNC) in Bedford Square, London, in the presence of two witnesses (not necessarily the same two witnesses for the wedding). Everyone should take their passports with them to the consulate offices and we advise that you check that the offices are open and that it is not a public holiday. You should plan to be in North Cyprus at least three to four working days prior to the wedding or five days if a weekend is included. You should both enter North Cyprus via Ercan, not the south side, as this has to be shown with a copy of your entry visa. If one of you is a Turkish Cypriot (even if you were born in the UK) or you have Turkish Cypriot relatives The registrar, not the Kaymakam officer, will perform the wedding. Any day of the week is available subject to the registrar being available; there is a registrar’s fee of up to £200 not included in the sample packages. To make a reservation, the following are required: • Copies of birth certificates and copies of parents’ birth certificates if possible • Copies of TRNC birth certificates (even if you were born in the UK) • Copies of divorce papers if applicable or death certificate if previous partner is deceased • Letter of parental consent if under 18 years of age • Certificate of non-impediment dated within three months of the wedding date as above. • Results of the bride and groom’s blood tests for thalassimia from the state hospital in Nicosia dated within three months of the wedding date. Allow 10 working days for the results. • Papers showing that the groom is free of TRNC army duties. As an alternative you may want to consider getting married in a registry office in the UK, followed by a blessing or an exchange of vows in North Cyprus. • Green Island Holidays Weddings completed application form. With both of you being British passport-holders St Andrews’s Church will charge £350 for a church wedding, £36.00 organist fee, £50.00 Diocesan Office fee and a licence fee of £175 if it is booked more than 15 days prior to the wedding date (2010 charges). Both the Bride & Groom must be present to make the reservation with their original documents, if more than 15 days before the wedding date Church weddings can take place any day or time, subject to the chaplain being available. To make a reservation, the following are required: • Copies of birth certificates • Copies of passports • Copies of divorce papers if applicable or death certificate if first partner is deceased • Letter of parental consent if under 18 years • Certificate of non-impediment from a solicitor or notary dated within three months of the wedding date. • Names of two witnesses • Licence fee of approximately €282* if the booking is less than 15 days before the wedding date You should both enter North Cyprus via the south side, not the north. Your guests may fly in via the north side though. We suggest that you arrive four to five days before your special day as your wedding advisor will need to take you to the municipality offices on the south side and the chaplain will also wish to meet you. All original papers (birth certificates etc) should be bought with you to North Cyprus.
Catholic Church weddings There are similar requirements as above, except that there is no fee for the church and donations are accepted instead. The licence fee is approximately £175 or €€282* depending on the time of booking. Your wedding will be conducted at the Catholic Church in Kyrenia, usually on a Sunday. Before your arrival in North Cyprus you will need to have received ‘training’ from your UK catholic priest. Blessings or renewals of vows Blessings can be performed at St Andrew’s Church (£250) or at an outside venue (£125). Your wedding advisor will let you know about any special requirements. An Exchange of Vows can also be organized for £80. *Please note that all prices are quoted in Sterling. However, if you have a Kyrenia Anglican or Catholic Church wedding, the price is quoted in Euros as the Chaplain is licenced from south side of Cyprus where the currency remains in Euros.

Terms and condit ions Please read these booking conditions carefully as they form the basis of the contract between Lorenz Voyager Travel Limited (trading as Green Island Holidays) as the tour operator and yourself as the client, and set out our obligations to you and yours to us.
Payment A deposit of £75 per person plus full Airline seat cost (APEX AIRLINE TICKECTS ADVANCE PURCHASE THAT ARE NOT REFUNDABLE) must be paid and sent with a completed, signed booking form together with the appropriate insurance premium if required. On receipt of your booking form we will issue a confirmation invoice as soon as your full itinerary is confirmed. The total cost of your holiday is payable to us no later than 8 weeks prior to departure. If the balance remains unpaid after this date, we reserve the right to cancel your booking and retain the deposit paid. Any money paid by a customer to a travel agent in respect of a booking with Lorenz Voyager Travel Limited is held by the agent on behalf of Lorenz Voyager Travel Limited.
Late bookings Bookings received by us 12 weeks or less prior to departure are deemed to be late bookings. When you make a definite booking through your travel agent or by telephone directly to us, you must pay the total cost of the booking at that time. Should you subsequently cancel the reservation made you will be subject to cancellation charges detailed in “Cancellation by the Client”. A late booking may be accepted by us either by telephone or by the issuing of a confirmation invoice.
Alteration by the client Lorenz Voyager Travel Limited & its agents will do their utmost, but cannot guarantee to comply with any request for alteration to a booking. An amendment fee of £30 per person will be applied. Please note that any amendment made after tickets have been issued will be treated as a cancellation and will attract a minimum charge of £180 per person.

Should we have to cancel a tour, holiday or other travel arrangements as a result of hostilities, political unrest, or other circumstances amounting to force majeure, we shall inform you or your travel agent without delay and shall offer the choice of an alternative holiday of at least comparable standard, if available, or a prompt and full refund of all money paid. Any such refunds shall be sent to agents within 10 clear days and to direct clients within 14 clear days. Should we be forced to cancel your holiday for any reason other than force majeure or non payment of outstanding balance, the company, in addition to refunding all monies paid, will pay compensation as per the table in the following paragraph.
If we change your holiday. If a major change becomes necessary, we will inform you or your travel agent as soon as is reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. A major change is one that we make to your holiday arrangements before departure that involves changing your airport(s) except Heathrow, Stansted, Luton, Gatwick, resort area or time of departure or return by more than 12 hours, or offering accommodation with a lower rating. You then have a choice of either: A. Accepting the changed arrangements as notified to you. B. Purchasing another available holiday from us. C. Cancelling your holiday. If you choose A or B, we will pay compensation on the scale shown below. If you choose C, we will refund all money paid to us, in no case will we pay compensation if the change is due to an event listed in “Important Notice” below. Your financial protection
Cancellation of your holiday must be notified to us in writing. The cancellation charges depend upon when your written notice is received and will be levied as follows. Note: Certain travel arrangements (e.g. ADVANCE PURCHASE TICKECTS cannot be changed whatsoever once reservation has been confirmed even if confirmed the same day a 100% cancellation charge will be incurred.
The Air holiday packages in this brochure are ATOL protected by the civil Aviation Authority .Our Atol number is 4846.when you buy an ATOL protected air holiday package from us (Green Island Holidays) you will receive a confirmation invoice from us confirming your arrangements and your protection under our air travel organisers licence (4846).NOT ALL Travel services offered and sold by us will be protected by the ATOL SCHEME please ask us to confirm what protection may apply to your booking.
Cancellation or alteration by the company
Important notice
The company reserves the right to modify or cancel any holiday, flight schedule, accommodation or other arrangements, in the event that the holiday chosen by the customer cannot be provided for any reason. If the circumstances referred to in the preceding paragraph occur before the customer’s departure, the company undertakes to offer the customer alternative arrangements, or, if this is not acceptable, a full refund of all monies paid. We plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance and although it is unlikely that we have to make any changes to confirmed arrangements, it does occasionally happen. Most changes are of a minor
Compensation payments do not apply to changes caused by reason of war or threat of war, riots, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disasters, fire, technical problems to transport, closure or congestion of airports or ports, cancellation or changes of schedules by scheduled airlines and similar events beyond our control.
Cancellation by the client
Conditions of carriage. When you travel with a carrier, the conditions of carriage of that carrier will apply, some of which may limit liability. The conditions of carriage of that carrier are incorporated into this contract. You may ask for copies of the relevant conditions of carriage from our offices.
Complaints We or our local agents have personally inspected all of the properties featured in our brochure and the information given is supplied by them and is believed to be correct at the time of printing. However, since this brochure is prepared many months in advance it is possible that some features may change. Should you have any cause for complaint, please bring it to the attention of the Hotel Manager or our representative who will deal with it on the spot. If the mat-ter cannot be resolved during your stay, then please notify us in writing within 30 days of your return to the UK.
Arbitration Disputes arising out of, or in connection with, this contract which cannot be resolved amicably, may (if the customer so wishes), be referred to arbitration under a special scheme which, though devised by arrangements with the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), is administered quite independently by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The scheme provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration of documents alone with restricted liability on the customer in respect of costs. The scheme does not apply to claims for an amount in excess of £1500 per person or £7500 per booking form or to claims which are solely or mainly in respect of physical injury or illness. Should you elect to seek redress under this scheme, written notice requesting arbitration under the scheme must be made within 9 months after the scheduled date of return from the holiday
premium paid to us for holiday insurance and amendment charges. Should you decide to cancel because of this you should exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the date of the invoice. In return no refund will be granted should sterling gain in value against the appropriate currencies prior to your departure. All prices quoted in this brochure are based on fuel costs and exchange rates on 22nd December, 2010 as quoted in the financial Times: 2,39 YTL. All services in this brochure to North Cyprus and Turkey are paid in sterling.
Jurisdiction The contract arising from any confirmed holiday booking is to be interpreted under and is subject to the laws of England. We will agree to submit any dispute or claim under it to the English Courts (if you live in England or Wales) or the Scottish Courts (if you live in Scotland). Validity & Responsibility. This brochure is valid from 10 January, 2010 until further notice. It is based on the sole responsibility of Lorenz Voyager Travel Limited and does not commit the airlines, transportation companies and hotels etc. mentioned therein.
Travel insurance As per our booking conditions we require all our guest’s travelling have adequate travel insurance see our booking conditions As part of the new legislation Green island holidays have opted not sell travel insurance directly to our customers and we act as an agent on behalf of Blue Travel Insurance who are fully regulated to sell travel insurance and offer comprehensive cover. We strongly advise that when buying travel insurance you read carefully all the questions and if you are unsure of any questions call the company direct they are happy to help you, remember any incorrect information you give or failure to disclose of medical conditions even pre-existing or similar could void your policy.
Travel documents. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that passports, visas, vaccination certificates and any other necessary travel documents are valid for the journey(s) to be undertaken.
Our guarantee on price / surcharge. We guarantee that the price of your holiday will not be subject to surcharge except for government action such as V.A.T., currency and increases in fuel. Even in these cases we will absorb an amount equivalent to 2% of the holiday price which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. Only amounts in excess of this 2% will be surcharged but where surcharge is payable there will be an administration charge of 50p together with an amount to cover agent’s commission. If this means paying more than 10% of your holiday price, you will be entitled to cancel your holiday with a full refund of all money paid except for any greenislandholidays.com 43
