GROWING

SOMETHING NEW
The beginning of a new year always gives us a chance to start anew. A chance to refresh and reinvigorate ourselves. A moment to look at what we want to accomplish and where we want to grow. To that end, Green Industry Pros is doing the same with a new crew, a new look and new ideas.
To kickoff our refreshed print edition, is our State of the Industry report starting on page 22. We reached out to a handful of associations and manufacturers to see what they’re seeing and hearing in the industry, and what they think 2022 has in store. If you check out our new survey series (page 42), landscape professionals chime in on the expanded services they hope to add in the new year.
We’re also expanding our print coverage to include some rotating columns (pages 14 and 16), introduce you to other landscape peers (page 18) and showcase the wonderful work and projects you’re doing out there in the field. Make sure you check out the recent project from Colorado-based Tree of Life Landscapes, which won an ELITE Gold Award for Residential Plant Design from the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (page 30). The landscape designer, Johnny Moore, talks about his experience working on the project.
This year, we’re also launching the Women in the Green Industry Award. According to research from Statista, as of 2020, only 6.5% of landscaping professionals in the United States are
women. To encourage more women to join the industry, Green Industry Pros wants to do its part by honoring the women who are bringing fresh perspectives and ideas to the landscape industry. Be on the lookout for the winners in the May/June print edition. As I mentioned at the top, we have a new crew working on our Green Industry Pros and SnowPRO brands. Jason DeSarle, who came from the world of landscape trade publications, has recently taken on the brands’ sales strategy as brand director. Assistant editor, Bryce Gill started out as an intern with our company and is now working across a few of our brands focused primarily on products. Left to Right: Gigi Wood, Bryce Gill, Jon Minnick, You might Hannah Gooch and Jason DeSarle have seen her in our Greenkeepers business video series. Associate editor Hannah Gooch joined the company in October and will be leading the charge on SnowPRO. Staff writer Gigi Wood makes sure the day-to-day work is covered and leads the charge in communications and ideation. Finally, is myself, Jon Minnick. I have worked in B2B trade publications for nearly 20 years, starting in the home remodeling industry. I oversee the Content Team here and we’re happy to hear from you. Tell us your ideas, what you’d like to see more of in our brands and how we can help you do your job. Just reach out at editor@ greenindustrypros.com. Here’s to 2022 and hopefully a prosperous year for you all!
