s patio season approaches, Westboro is set to welcome the arrival of its largest outdoor location for great food and drink, at the Clocktower Brew Pub. Although the first Clocktower opened in the Glebe 15 years ago, the Westboro location is actually the newest and largest Clocktower in the city, joining sister locations in New Edinburgh and the ByWard Market. In addition to its large patio, inside the Westboro Clocktower you’ll find a private function area, mezzanine and large foursided bar that just begs to be cozied up to. While the pub is spacious, it boasts a warm atmosphere that is unpretentious and relaxed. Like the other Clocktower locations, the Westboro team welcomes the walk in traffic that comes from being in a lively, urban neighbourhood. The Clocktower enjoys the services of Brewmaster Patrick Fiori, a genuine craftsman who excels at creating great tasting, full flavoured beers made in small batches with no preservatives or additives. Thanks to his attention to detail, the Clocktower offers five standard original brews – Kölsch (Blonde Ale), Wishart’s Bitter, Raspberry Wheat, Bytown Brown and Clocktower Red – along with rotating seasonal selections. This year, the Clocktower is honoured to have been selected as the Official Brewer for WESTFEST, so they will be adding a new, delicious seasonal beer to their lineup, the tasty and refreshing WestBrew which was previewed to great acclaim several weeks ago. “Our house made beers and amazing food sets us apart as a premier place for a dining experience,” says owner John Coughlin. “The Clocktower Brew Pub has earned a reputation for being a welcoming place that appeals to a wide demographic. We have families with young kids who like to come for brunch, and loads of sports fans who come to watch their favourite teams on our big screen TVs.” The Clocktower’s food is a little higherend than your typical pub, with its eclec-

tic menu offering something for everyone. They also offer a variety of specials, such as their longstanding and very popular Tuesday Wing night. In terms of the wine list, it too is varied, with a number of selections not typically found at the LCBO. “Our wine list has been carefully compiled to provide a range of wines, all of which offer good value and are a nice complement to our food,” explains John. Groups are always welcome at the Clocktower, whether you are dropping in after work or wanting to book a special function. They offer professionally-guided beer tastings for groups of ten or more, as well as beer and cheese pairings, sampling five hand-picked cheeses perfectly matched to their five original brews. “As we anticipate the opening of our patio, we are looking forward to a very busy summer season here at the Westboro Clocktower,” confirms John. “We already feel so welcomed by the community and we are so pleased to be here.”
