I AM ANGLESEA OFFICIAL MAP

IAMANGLESEA.COM.AU

YOU’RE WELCOME

I AM A ROCK POOL PUZZLE. I AM THE CALL TO EXPLORE.

Anglesea is an adventure waiting to happen on the Great Ocean Road, only an hour and a half from Melbourne. It is fun for all – the ultimate family holiday escape, where trying something new is the flavour of every day.

I AM LAUGHING TILL IT HURTS. A natural playground made for kids big and small. Safe beaches, creature comforts galore and everything within easy reach. Climb, ride, splash – have a go at it all. From a family fish and chips feast to a double-scoop ice cream cone Anglesea is about full bellies and full-on fun in a world of nature. With sea to one side and wild bushland to the other, fill your lungs with salty air, squish sand between your toes and set out to explore.

FAMILY FUN

I AM YOUR FIRST ADVENTURE. TOGETHER. Life’s better when everyone’s together. Bunked in within earshot of the sea. Hand-holding on the giant jumping pillow. A line-up of fishing rods on the riverbank. A gaggle of giggles at mini-golf. Every day is time to play. Anglesea is all about doing more together. Hanging out and going hand-in-hand – as you do in life. There’s stacks to do! Soak up the side-by-side joy of dipping in the sea. Relive your childhood memories of fun-boating on the river. Feast on fish and chips, straight from the paper. Yum!

PLAYTIME > Do something new, as a family. Bring the little ones, hire a family canoe or two and paddle your way up and down the peaceful Anglesea River. | angleseapaddleandcanoe.com > Behold a Great Wall of Chocolate that’s surely visible from space? Linger over a luscious café lunch then taste, browse and buy to your heart’s content at Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery (Bellbrae). | gorci.com.au > Squeal for joy at a new playground every day. Unleash the munchkins at Coogoorah Park on Reserve Road and watch them run. Let the littlies loose at Lions Park OR swing high at Moonah Park (near the main beach car park), can you spot the sea creatures? Or launch yourself as you bounce off the walls at the outdoor trampoline park. | jumpzanglesea.com.au

OUTDOOR ACTIVE

I AM A DOWNHILL RIDE WITH YOUR FEET OFF THE PEDALS. Anglesea is a safe haven for intrepid spirits of all ages, from tiny beginners to plucky daredevils. Build confidence in the shallow estuary waters, small swells or calmness of the Anglesea River. Stroll a riverside or clifftop track. When you’re ready, so are we‌ with bigger surf breaks nearby and adrenalin pumping MTB trails in the bush surrounds. > Learn something new. Skill-up the whole crew with a beginner surf lesson. Waist-deep water, safe beach and belly-laughing family fun. | gorideawave.com.au > Tackle the 7km Point Addis to Anglesea section of the Surf Coast Walk. Beach ambling, woodlands and amazing ocean views. | surfcoastwalk.com.au > Go off-road on off-road mountain bike trails criss-crossing the bushy surrounds of town. Ask for a mud map at the Visitor Centre. Or head to Anglesea Bike Park for downhill tracks and jumps. | angleseabikepark.com.au

I AM OUTDOOR EVENTS, ALL YEAR LONG. From big, bold, world-class challenges to getting together and having a go, the Anglesea events calendar is a winner. > Come see some of the world’s best cycling at January’s Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. | cadelevansgreatoceanroadrace.com.au > In April, muster the young ones to Kids Adventure Outdoors (KAOS) Anglesea, designed as a safe intro to a range of outdoor activities. Followed closely by the Adventurethon which combos up paddling, biking and running. | kidsadventureoutdoors.org.au > In September, pull on your runners for the Surf Coast Century, an endurance off-road running event over 50km or 100km. | rapidascent.com.au/SurfcoastCentury > Late December sees visitors entertained with the Roo Run and Rock2Ramp which cater for seasoned campaigners, weekend joggers, social walkers and novices. | roorun.com.au

I AM THE CRAZY IDEA THAT IS TODAY’S CHALLENGE. Pack the car, pile in with the kids and come play with us. Choose your own adventure: learn to surf, hit a mountain bike trail, swing sky-high at an epic playground, eyeball cheeky kangaroos, explore the Mosaic Arts Trail or find a mini world in a sea-washed rockpool. There’s always something new to try.

I AM WIND-WHIPPED CHEEKS. And never-ending giggles. At day’s end, settle in for board games and excited chatter about tomorrow’s adventures. The world’s waiting for you out there.

NATURE

I AM ON TOP OF THE WORLD. Anglesea is a world of nature ready for you to come, play, see and conquer. The scenery hits you head-on and the more you look the more you see – ever-changing ocean, calm estuary, rippling rockpools on the coastline, life-rich Anglesea River and Coogoorah Park, blooming wildflowers and wild reaches of the Anglesea Heath and bushland. Nature surrounds you here: Take time to walk / hike / ride from the beaches, along the river all the way to the woodlands. Just a little exploring will have you meeting the local native wildlife up-close to sighting whales, seals and seabirds far offshore.

NATURE’S GIFTS > Spring into bloom time. Did you know Anglesea Heath boasts over 80 varieties of orchids? Check out native wildflower displays and enjoy guided walks during September’s Angair Wildflower Show. | angair.org.au > Take a tour to ogle cheeky kangaroos who call Anglesea Golf Course their home turf. | angleseagolfclub.com.au > Slip, slop, slap and head to Anglesea’s main beach or Point Roadknight to paddle, potter, dip in, build sandcastles, boogie board, play beach cricket and go with the ebb and flow. Lifeguards patrol both beaches in summer. > Wake up beneath the stars in a tucked away cul de sac miles from care. Grab a camp site by the river under a maze of tea trees, and unzip the tent flap for instant morning inspiration. ADVERTISEMENT SYMBOLS Attraction
