Trumbull County has great taste — representing regions across the globe. Allow your appetite to drive you to fresh flavors. Here’s a sampling.

Mexican Fiesta

Spice things up at El Hefe, where a rainbow of flavors and murals painted by graffiti artists in Mexico set the scene for a delicious dining experience. Here, culinary fusions take traditional Mexican street food favorites to the next level.

Fresh ingredients, a robust menu of all things Mexicano, and an option to build your own is the way at El Taco Feliz Restaurant & Bar with its genuine local vibe. At Anejo, homemade Mexican cuisine has a saucy edge with more than 20 freshly made toppings and hand-crafted chorizo. When visiting El Torero, remember the margarita, savor the authentic fare, and grab a seat on the patio, weather permitting.

Stage a taco party and fill some tortillas at Wahaka Taco or Bushwick. Fresh corn dip includes flavorful kernels right off the cob at Compadres Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, a hidden gem with a generous menu of genuine recipes that includes dishes ranging from ceviche to chorizo and cheese dip.

Tour Japan

Your first visit to Edamame Ramen should include ramen, sushi, and its well-known hibachi — or a combination dinner with soup, salad, steak, and shrimp that offers a “tour” in one meal. Remember to order a side of the dish for which the restaurant is named: edamame or boiled soybeans.

At Yamato Japanese, chefs cook tableside, preparing hibachi and homemade yum yum — an essential remoulade you’ll wish you could take home in vats.

Modern dining at Mizu offers a fresh take on tradition, along with a sushi selection with hometown pride: The Howland Tiger Roll, which includes crab, cream cheese, avocado, and asparagus that is wrapped and deep-fried, served with spicy mayo, eel sauce, and caviar.

Chinese Excursion

Stand-out service is a frequent comment from diners about The Golden Hunan Restaurant & Lounge

The expansive menu of Chinese and Thai selections includes standouts like orange chicken and spring rolls to savor for takeout only.

Work up an appetite, then make your way to Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet with its sprawling array of dishes you can plate for dine in or carry out.

Nod to Poland

It’s all about the pierogis and flavor variety at Lena’s Pierogi House, from Hungarian hot pepper to loaded potato, cheddar, and more. Save room for the homemade cheesecake.

Jewish Deli

Established in 1939, Kravitz Delicatessen is a Northeast Ohio staple. The oldest operating business on Belmont Avenue, this one-of-a-kind deli warms the heart with authentic Jewish and Mediterranean dishes, from soups and salads to pastries, a range of sandwiches (corned beef and turkey, anyone?), and homemade bagels and rye bread made fresh daily.

Passage to India

True Tandoori cooking highlights Bombay Curry & Grill, where its clay pit oven broils skewered and marinated meats, poultry, and seafood. Fresh menu selections are prepared on-site, and the staff takes pride in using no extra preservatives. At Taste of India, guests rave over the garlic naan bread, vegetarian samosa savory pastry filled with spiced potatoes and green peas, and steamed chicken momo dumplings.

Warren's Historic millionaires row

A Walking Tour of History and Architecture

As you stroll along Historic Mahoning Avenue, imagine yourself back in the Victorian era when this area was quite fashionable and filled with a mixture of shops and homes.

This is where the local affluent — the “Who’s Who”of American industry, commerce and politics — built and lived in stately homes and mansions that lined the streets during the mid-to-late 1800s.

Recognized as national treasures, many of these structures have been restored to their original grandeur. Today, they are home to businesses, museums, offices, and private residences.

In the early days of Trumbull County, Mahoning Avenue was also known as the Warren-Ashtabula Turnpike, which played a significant role in the local Underground Railroad movement.
