Membership & Business Directory

City of Kitchener Carl Zehr, Mayor On behalf of members of council and the citizens of the City of Kitchener, welcome to the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce 2013-2014 Membership & Business Directory. This directory will put the local business information that you have been looking for right at your fingertips. On the following pages you will find useful details and contact information for the many businesses located in Kitchener and Waterloo. Kitchener is a city on the move and our local businesses are at the heart of this success. Over the past year we have seen many new and exciting changes take place in our city, and we can’t wait to see what will happen next. Momentum continues to build in Kitchener’s innovation district with the adaptive reuse of many of our historic and currently underutilized buildings, such as the redevelopment of the Simpson Building and Breithaupt Block. More than 12,000 employees now work in Kitchener’s core due in part to these and many other companies located or relocating downtown. As a result, there are now as many as 42,300 residents living within a twenty minute walk of downtown Kitchener and we are working hard to meet the growing demand for housing in the core. Planning and development is underway on three major residential condo builds: City Centre Condominiums, One Victoria Condominiums, and Victoria Commons. These trendy urban units are set to transform the heart of Kitchener. The culinary scene in our downtown is also experiencing a rapid expansion, seeing more than 19 new restaurants and cafés open in the past year. The development of the Duke Food Block, located just around the corner from the Chamber of Commerce, is the perfect example of the spontaneous growth that is taking place to meet the needs of our downtown businesses and residents. It’s an exciting time to live, work and play in Kitchener, and it is up to each of us to make Kitchener the best city it can be. With your help the possibilities are endless! Sincerely, Carl Zehr Mayor

Woolwich Township Todd Cowan, Mayor On behalf of the Township, I am pleased to welcome you to Woolwich and to experience all that we have to offer. Woolwich continues to grow and welcome new and exciting opportunities that arise from being part of Ontario’s technology core. Woolwich also works hard to maintain that small town, rural charm that has made the Township one of Ontario’s foremost tourist destinations. As Mayor of Woolwich, I continue to seek new and innovative ways to lead the Township towards a bright, prosperous future. Whether that means seeking to bring exciting new business and industrial opportunities to the Township or seeking paths towards protecting and preserving the environmental, social and cultural institutions that have made Woolwich a desirable and recognizable “community of communities” within the region, the well being of the Township of Woolwich is and will continue to be my central priority. Woolwich continues to be an active, vibrant and healthy community, able to accommodate and adapt to the changing needs of the Township. With the support of the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, we continue to strive for excellence and to provide residents and businesses alike with the opportunity to prosper in the Township. Woolwich is a beautiful, picturesque community filled with remarkable people, a proud heritage and a strong work ethic and I am very proud to represent the Township. Sincerely, Todd Cowan Mayor of Woolwich greaterkwchamber.com
