Few people setting foot in BSix College realise that they are actually following in the footsteps of a King of England. Yet on the site where the college stands once stood King’s Place, a grand mansion and residence of King Henry VIII situated in an estate of some two hundred acres in the Manor of Hackney. Our College today has a comprehensive offer with a wide range of courses at all levels. This means that no matter what grades a student arrives with, we are able to guide them onto the right course at the right level. Not only this, but we ensure every student focuses on achievement and progression onto the next year or the next level of their course. Achievement rates are high and increasing year on year. Our success rates are in line with the national average for sixth form colleges. We have been in the top 10 colleges in London for the past six years and in the top 5% for value added in the whole country. Our Ofsted inspection in 2013 graded us as Good and we are now well on our way on our journey to Outstanding. Our state-of-the-art facilities support excellent teaching and learning and a vibrant extra-curricular programme. BSeven is our extensive extended college curriculum including sports and creative arts, the World of Work, and our award winning Student Voice and University partnership programmes. We have also made a name for ourselves as ‘Your award-winning Sixth Form College’ having won 18 awards in the past 6 years! Most recently we were awarded the Investors in Diversity kite mark, ‘Outstanding contribution to the local community’ by Citizens UK for our student volunteering work on the City safe campaign and tackling homelessness in Hackney and our catering service won (for the second time in four years) a national award. We support our students’ to help them achieve their ambitions. In return, we expect students to demonstrate maximum effort and commitment, and to have high aspirations for their futures. We promise to support our students’ progress and prepare them for their next step, whether into higher education or embarking on professional lives. Students’ regularly progress to top-ranking Universities including Oxford and Cambridge.
