Our New local Cinema

The Living Room Cinema has been a long-term project which has been five years in the making after five long years of planning, brainstorming, organising, negotiating we are now delighted to be the proud owners of the old Anchor Garage site in Liphook.

Our aim is to open by the end of 2021, although this is entirely dependent on the Covid situation. It may well have to move to early 2022. We already had all planning and designs drawn up two years ago when the demolition process took place, and our building team have stayed with us throughout the delay. Award winning architects Baynes & Mitchell and Mcfarlane Latter are behind the designs and Agincourt Contractors Ltd in Petersfield are managing the build.

Whilst building work gathers pace, planning behind the scenes has not stopped. We’re working tirelessly to ensure that the interior is as stylish as your own living room. We’re sourcing furniture from all over Europe, and have recently spent time in a wonderful factory in Belfast putting the final touches to our cinema armchairs. These, along with 2 rows of 2 seater sofas have been designed especially for our auditorium, and we are now putting the final touches to the design and making decisions over fabric.

What can we tell you about The Living Room Cinema? We will operate a solo auditorium with 60 luxury seats, with an elegant day time café which transforms into a stylish wine and cocktail lounge in the evening. We’ll be serving brunch, lunch and delicious home-made cakes and coffee throughout the day. We’ll be sourcing everything locally – we want to support local business as much as we can and we are currently visiting local wineries and distilleries for our selection of quality wines and spirits for your enjoyment in the evening. We’re already talking to Maize and Grace popcorn and look forward to talking to any local suppliers of food and drink who might be interested in working with us.

New film releases will be available on national launch date – no more waiting weeks to see a newly released film! Classic films will be supported alongside live performances of cultural & artistic shows and events. There will be a family film every weekend - we all know how frustrating it is when it’s raining outside and there’s nothing for the family to see at the cinema! There will be parent and baby screenings too: the newest films for mums, dads or other carers shown in safe surroundings with the lights up and sound down. A regular monthly slot will be created for young programmers to curate and promote their own film selection and we will be hosting exclusive Q&As with in-front and behind the camera talent. We will listen to our audience and constantly evolve with new ideas. This is a destination venue for all to enjoy – your comments and feedback will be invaluable to us!

Everyone will be able to use the cinema including non-members but we have designed a 3 tier membership programme to support our most loyal followers and film fans with great cost savings and partner benefits. Right now we are receiving applications for our exclusive Founder Memberships which will be limited in number and will give 50 local residents access to extra special perks and an invite to the exclusive VIP launch party!
