Grays & Hues Zine
Grays & Hues exposes the monochromatic lens through which we perceive the world — the estrangement from our childhoods, the pressure to perform within capitalist systems as shadows. As new adults, we find ourselves undergoing a transition period, marred with uncertainty and the fear of failure. A purgatory, if you will, for we are neither children nor yet “real” adults. And so begs the question: who should we become? Founded during the summer of 2023, Grays & Hues is a space for young creatives to cultivate their voices, to find community in a world that undercuts the arts and humanities. To our dear readers, this zine is a reminder that our academic and professional affiliations do not inform our significance. We exist because forging an authentic self demands vulnerability — just as a butterfly pries its cocoon, a snake by sloughing old skin. Naked and raw, yet colorful and whole.
