When one of their production partners and friend from Poland asked them what to do with three 50-meter rolls of Japanese jersey that were left over from the last client order, Elisa & Dirk asked themselves, why not use our network, our cuts, our own style and our knowledge of all these precious “leftovers” to make products ourselves. Through their research they had gained a clear idea that things were going wrong in the fashion industry, leading them to embark on a transparent search for better solutions. The result? EDO Goods. A creative studio dedicated to the production of streetwear and merchandising with a high ecological and social focus. Made on demand, designed for longevity and circularity, stitched locally by skilled craftspeople, using carbon neutral organic fabrics or upcycling pre-consumer waste. Chances are if you’ve been within a certain 3-4km radius between Neukölln and Kreuzberg, you’ve been to at least one of their many ‘studios’. We say ‘studios’ because, as

Elisa & Dirk will tell you, their ‘studios’ have varied from more typical workplaces like co-working-studios, to shops and even private homes. Meanwhile, in the midst of COVID lockdowns, EDO finally found their permanent home in a shop-atelier in Kreuzberg. We first encountered Elisa & Dirk during their winter pop-up in an ice-cream store on Weserstraße, a street that has given them connections to people who through their nature and their work, make everyday life something special. “In time, strangers become familiar faces and sometimes even friends. Through the daily routines we choose, we shape our world and create connections that will shape our future.” Curious about their approach to s(low) fashion, we teamed up with EDO and asked three of our past and present Gravy contributors to style EDO their own way. Find EDO post-rona at Mittenwalder Str. 60, BERLIN or check out www.edogoods.com.
