For our August Young Profession als Network event, we toured the Jose phine County Adult Jail. While attendee space was limited to a smaller crowd, the experience and impact was huge. Ser geant Tony Basso led our group through the inner workings and operations of the Sheriff’s Department. Most of those on the tour went in believing that facility just housed inmates. It was surprising to learn the many community services offered onsite and the different departments op erating on the property. The staff we interacted with were very passionate about protecting the community while also being attentive to the needs of those they house. We learned that the largest and most important job at all times of the day is inmate classification. The classification must be continuously evaluated to ensure the safety of inmate’s interactions. While going to jail it not on most people’s bucket lists, we highly recommend taking a tour. Our next event is our Networking Social on September 22nd 5:30pm-7:00pm at Oregon Pizza & Pour Authority To learn more about the Young Professionals Network, please email Christie Swafford at cswafford@grantspasschamber.org. on

Dr. Sara Riechers, DDS, FAGD...Fellowship complete! In July Dr. Riechers joined the slim ranks of dentists who have completed the Fellowship with the Academy of Gen eral Dentistry (FAGD). FAGD stands for “Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.” It is one of the most pres tigious awards in dentistry and it designates that a dentist has achieved true excellence in their profession. Earning Fellowship takes dedication to dental continuing educa tion (CE) beyond gradua tion. Only about 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows. To become an AGD Fellow, a dentist must: Complete over 500 credit hours of CE, earn 350 of those 500 credits in live courses, and pass an exam equal in difficulty to board certification exams. The Chamber is proud of her accomplishment and the education she brings to our valley. Additionally, Region 11 Academy of General Dentistry wants to send a big congratulations to Dr. Sara Riechers for receiving her Fellowship. Please celebrate Dr. Riechers’s accomplishments by sending a message of congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS!

The 12th annual Ride the Rogue cycling event will be held on September 24th 2022. This is a fundraiser for the Rogue River Greenway Foundation, a local nonprofit raising funds to assist in the development and construction of the Rogue River Greenway. The completed Greenway path will connect Grants Pass to Central Point where it will connect to the existing Bear Creek Greenway. Upon completion this path will connect 8 Cities, 2 Counties and create over 50 miles of regional con nectivity through Southern Oregon. We are working on the Greenway from many directions. Not all areas con nect yet. Our goal is to have an off roadway separated trail but where that is not pos sible, have widened shoulders and bike lanes. We have raised more than $8 million dollars in grants, donations and in-kind services and material since our beginning in 2004. We have completed more than half of the trail. Our focus now is starting the section from Grants Pass to Rogue River.

The 2022 Ride the Rogue cycling event features three fully supported routes for cyclist to choose from. Our after ride meal is catered by Taylor’s Sausage and our beer garden features Weekend Brewery. This event is only made possible through the work of many volunteers and the generous support of our sponsors. Ultimately the investment in the Greenway is an investment in the future of Southern Oregon. You can become a sponsor by contacting info@roguerivergreen way.org or through our Ride the Rogue registration page at www.ridetherogue.com.
