Hi Members, There are certain people in our lives that make a lasting impact.

Ginger Ford was one of those people.

I am deeply heartbroken to share Ginger passed away on June 14th. She was an amazing woman that made a big impact on the Chamber of Commerce, Visitor Center and our entire community.

She started volunteering at the Visitor Center in 2013. In 2018, she was selected as our volunteer of the year. Ginger was full of knowledge, friendly, and passionate about our community. She had the best stories and we were lucky to have her as a volunteer!

Ginger was one of the first people I met when I moved to town.

We connected instantly and became friends. She taught me so much about the history of Grants Pass, our downtown, and City. We could talk for hours about what was happening in Grants Pass. Fellow redheads must stick together!

We both got to participate in the Caveman Bridge dedication.

Ginger was a Cave Queen back in the day and she was one of the honorees that day! It was a beautiful celebration.

I feel lucky to have known Ginger. She was beautiful inside and out. She will stay with me the rest of my life. I learned so much from her and will always cherish the conversations we had.

For those that didn’t know Ginger, here is a little bit about her: Ginger was a 5th generation, Grants Pass native. She worked for Bob Hart Insurance after graduating then moved to Alabama to Fort Rucker Army Aviation Center while her husband was in the service.

Upon returning to Grants Pass she went into partnership, owning Southern Oregon Distributors (beer distributorship) with her husband.

They also owned and ran Erosion Control (hydro-seeding business) and Kelly’s Equipment & Irrigation.

Ginger also volunteered her time with the Community Concert Association and the Historical Building and Site Commission.

ommunity Bridges Foundation (CBF) is a consortium of community-based organizations designed to help people bridge the gap between where they are and where they would like to be.

We focus on providing assistance to those with special needs through the work of our foundation partners. Our current partners are At the Well Rogue Valley, Celebrate Recovery, Church of the Valley, Every Child Josephine, and Royal Family Kids.

At the Well Rogue Valley offers free community parenting classes, marriage class, and leadership coaching. Their focus is on helping families and small businesses in Southern Oregon thrive, with the goal of supporting families to end generational cycles that lead to hurt and abuse. ATW holds two annual events; the first, Family Game Night, is geared towards wholesome family fun and connection, the second, Pinwheels for Prevention, is a community supported display of blue pinwheels used to bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical 12 step program to help anyone dealing with hurts, habits or hang-ups.

They meet at 6 pm every Thursday at Parkway Christian Center’s Hull Center.

Church of the Valley is a cooperative effort of many and varied Pastors and churches in Josephine County. They are responsible for community events such as Serve Grants Pass, and Church in the Park.

Every Child gathers families in partnership with Oregon’s Department of Human Services to aid vulnerable children and families, giving our community a tangible way to support kids in foster care. With the goal of bringing love, care, and support to vulnerable children and families affected by foster care, Every Child runs multiple programs locally.

The “My NeighbOR” program fills tangible, financial, and social needs of kids in care, other programs include special events, snack pantry, clothing closet, and back to school supplies.

Royal Family Kids’ mission is to mobilize the local church to create life-changing moments for children who have experienced relational trauma. This is accomplished through a yearly summer camp and a mentorship program.

The Young Professionals Network is for young professionals in the target age range of 18-45 who are looking for networking opportunities with other young professionals, connections to the community and business leaders, community engagement, and professional development. The 12th annual Ride the Rogue cycling event will be held on September 24th 2022. This is a fundraiser for the Rogue River Greenway Foundation, a local nonprofit raising funds to assist in the development and construction of the Rogue River Greenway. The completed Greenway path will connect Grants Pass to Central Point where it will connect to the existing Bear Creek Greenway. Upon completion this path will connect 8 Cities, 2 Counties and create over 50 miles of regional connectivity through Southern Oregon.

We are working on the Greenway from many directions. Not all areas connect yet. Our goal is to have an off roadway separated trail but where that is not possible, have widened shoulders and bike lanes. We have raised more than $8 million dollars in grants, donations and in-kind services and material since our beginning in 2004. We have completed more than half of the trail. Our focus now is starting the section from Grants Pass to Rogue River.

The 2022 Ride the Rogue cycling event features three fully supported routes for cyclist to choose from. Our after ride meal is catered by Taylor’s Sausage and our beer garden features Weekend Brewery. This event is only made possible through the work of many volunteers and the generous support of our sponsors.

Rough and Ready Trail Improvements The Illinois Valley Destination Ready team (composed of the I.V. Chamber of Commerce, I.V. Community Development Organization, Travel Southern Oregon, City of Cave Junction, Friends of the Oregon Caves, and the National Parks Service) in collaboration with Oregon State Parks and BLM are widening and doubling the length of the wheelchair accessible trail at the Rough and Ready Botanical Wayside 4.5 miles south of Cave Junction.

This area is recognized as one of 200 biologically outstanding ecoregions in the world and is home to a slew of rare botanical species that have adapted to the surrounding serpentine soils. Wildflower viewing peaks April-June and sunsets over the Kalmiopsis Wilderness on the banks of Rough and Ready Creek never disappoint.

By the end of summer, visitors will enjoy the upgraded trail and the addition of artful handcrafted benches. The final phase later this year will include new interpretive signage and parking lot improvements.

Main Street Cave Junction Oak-to-Art Project Earlier this year, an old Oak tree outside of the Cave Junction Senior Thrift store had to be cut down for liability reasons. Since it couldn’t be saved, valley residents advocated to see it transformed! Members from the newly formed Main Street Cave Junction hopped into action and made a plan to see the 8 foot stump carved into art.

The committee has received bids from local chainsaw artists and are now in the process of raising funds and agreeing on a final design. The theme will be nature based, such as river otters, salmon, deer, or bears.

Century 21 JC Jones – Caleb Stone

The Alliance is excited to create a new facility to house Fusion Dance Academy, Stillpoint Production’s Nutcracker Ballet, and Training With Jocelyn. Their team includes veteran professional performers in many forms of dance and theater whose combined experience spans decades. Serving children through adults- providing diverse dance/theatre training (ballet, hip hop, contemporary, tap, jazz, acro, etc).

FPAA is passionate about bringing the many positive effects of training in the arts to a wide population of kids. The results are far reaching and, similar to sports, can even lead to college scholarship opportunities. They have already begun outreach in the community to fulfill this vision.

FPAAlliance seeks to cultivate, and receive philanthropic gifts and grants, along with student fundraisers, for the support of their performing arts organizations. Donations gladly accepted.

I’m a Real Estate Investor and Broker in the Southern Oregon Area with Century 21 J.C. Jones American Dream. I was first introduced to real estate at the age of 5. My family was dirt poor, and it was only through the financial acumen of my father that he was able to scrape together enough money to put towards a house. Later he ended up renting out each of the rooms, and used the income to pay off the house early.

I followed in my father’s footsteps and acquired several investment properties of my own. I developed a love and passion for Real Estate.

Josephine County has a new online look and new web address. Visitors to JosephineCounty.gov will find a variety of offices and services with an advanced search function, as well as new features designed to help residents access services and find out more about the county and its government.

Those who navigate to co.josephine.or.us will be automatically redirected to JosephineCounty.gov for the foreseeable future.

“We’re so excited for our residents to see what we’ve been working on for them,” said Jason Roberts, Josephine County web and public information officer. “Our new website is easy to navigate, loaded with useful content and designed to work well on smartphones, desktop computers and everything in between.”

Designed by the web firm Revize, JosephineCounty.gov will feature all the same access and information residents use, as well as some new tools, like the e-Notify module that allows residents to be notified via email when specific pages on the site are updated.
