Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. I am very excited to announce I’m back in the office full time.

Over the last three months I have been working behind the scenes, but am very excited to start setting up meetings and attending events. I’ve been looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

I also strongly encourage you to nominate a deserving business for our Business Awards. On March 11th, we will be honoring the award winners, businesses, volunteers, board members, and staff. We all know the last two years have been anything but ordinary. Our businesses have endured obstacles we never saw coming.

Since 1998, Project Youth+ (formerly College Dreams) has been removing barriers and increasing opportunities for low-income, first-generation college students, as well as at-risk youth, both in and out of school, to thrive in school, career, and life.

We contract with 22 schools in Southern Oregon to serve grades 6-12, as well as out-of-school youth up to age 24. We support more than 1,300 students across Josephine, Jackson, and southern Douglas counties.

Many face multiple risk factors for opportunity gaps, including living in single-parent households, navigating foster care, being homeless, having disabilities or lacking parental involvement due to mental health or substance abuse issues. Nearly all of our students are from low-income families, 66% are potential first-generation college students and over 40% are students of color.

Donation Partners, You did it!

You have helped Project Youth+ surpass our goals – which seemed impossibly far away one year ago – in our first-ever capital campaign. Thanks to your support, your dollars, and your word-ofmouth, we have turned the dream of a permanent home into a reality. We are so grateful to Tom and Judie Drummond for planting the seed back in 1998. And it is so fitting the building will be named in their honor.

We look forward to celebrating this milestone with all of you. Please join us for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating the opening of our new home.

The Young Professionals Network is for young professionals in the target age range of 18-45 who are looking for networking opportunities with other young professionals, connections to the community and business leaders, community engagement, and professional development. What a year it is has been for our Young Professionals Network!

With continuously changing meetings from virtual to in-person and back to virtual again; we managed to charge forward with great content, amazing speakers and had a little bit of fun along the way.

ONCE UPON A HORSE, in collaboration with JoCo Spay and Neuter Fund, is Fundraising to buy a Mobile Spay and Neuter Vet Clinic Unit for Josephine County!

A group of community volunteers lead by Candy Morsach and ONCE UPON A HORSE are partnering with JoCo Spay and Neuter Fund to fundraise and purchase a new Mobile Vet Unit. JoCo Spay and Neuter will control and manage the mobile vet unit as an asset to serve the entire Josephine County.

The Mobile Vet Clinic Unit will serve the Grants Pass and the greater Josephine County area providing low cost spay and neuter services, adoption events, pet care seminars, and other events. The mobile vet clinic will allow the JoCo Spay and Neuter Fund to serve more, help more, and care more. One of the primary goals of the Fund is to reduce overpopulation and animal cruelty. The unwanted and forgotten dogs and cats have no choice and have no voice. The JoCo Spay and Neuter motto is Fix One, Save Many, with a mobile vet clinic they can expand on this vision with animal related events wherever they are needed, including small animal shot clinics and a variety of other pet services.

The JoCo Spay and Neuter Fund, a 501(c)3 nonprofit was started by the Raskin family in 2009. JoCo Spay and Neuter has assisted in spaying or neutering more than 15,000 animals since its inception. However, the JoCo Spay and Neuter Fund relies on local vets to accept their vouchers to spay and neuter animals.

This vet clinic would enable the Fund to do this work without having to overburden our area vetrenarians with accepting the vouchers and discount their services.

Your help is needed to make this vision happen.

Through corporate sponsorship including Farmers Building & Garden Supply and Evergreen Federal Bank, collaborative fundraisers like Joy Hiler with Epicure, and individual donations -- we can reach our goals and provide a better future for the deserving animals in our community.
