embership in the chamber is much more than a plaque on the wall, the fulfillment of a sense of civil obligation, or the means to generate new business. Rather, membership represents a commitment to the continued prosperity of Josephine County’s economy. The Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce is the catalyst that enables businesses to accomplish collectively what no one business could do alone. A strong united effort gives a voice to members. Tourism, service, retail and manufacturing each contribute to our business community. Celebrating 40 Years of Community: Concerts in the Park

May brings a special energy to Southern Oregon. As the weather warms and visitors begin making their way to our rivers, wineries, trails, restaurants, shops, and local attractions, we are reminded how important tourism is to the strength of our local economy. For many businesses, May marks the start of a busy season filled with opportunity, hospitality, and the chance to showcase what makes Grants Pass and Josephine County such a remarkable place to live, work, and visit.
This month, the Chamber is proud to host our annual Wine Stroll, a signature event that celebrates local business, regional wine, community connection, and the charm of our historic downtown. Events like Wine Stroll bring people into our business districts, create visibility for our members, and encourage residents and visitors alike to spend their time and dollars locally.
Planning is also well underway for Concerts in the Park, one of our community’s most beloved summer traditions. Free, family-friendly events like this do not happen by accident. They are made possible through generous sponsors, committed volunteers, and a shared belief that strong communities are built when people have places to gather, connect, and celebrate together. This year marks the 40 year anniversary of Concerts in the Park!
May has also been a busy month for civic engagement. As an election year, we have focused on building relationships, facilitating candidate forums, and creating opportunities for education and communication. The Chamber is also honored to serve on the City’s Budget Committee, where we can bring the perspective of local businesses into important conversations about public resources, priorities, infrastructure, public safety, tourism, and long-term planning.
At the heart of all this work is our membership. Local businesses are the fabric of this community. You create jobs, support families, welcome visitors, sponsor programs, and help define the character of Grants Pass and Josephine County.
As we enter this busy season, we do so with gratitude and optimism. Thank you for allowing the Chamber to support, promote, advocate for, and celebrate the businesses and people who make Southern Oregon such a special place.

The Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce supports the Animal Control & Shelter Levy on the May ballot. This levy helps maintain critical day-to-day animal shelter operations, animal care, staffing, and animal control services. The shelter housed more than 2,200 animals last year and relies on more than 150 volunteers.
Animal control officers also responded to more than 3,300 calls in 2025—calls that would otherwise place added strain on already limited police and sheriff resources. Supporting this levy helps protect animals, public safety, and essential community services.

THe Laughing Clam
The Laughing Clam Celebrating 30 years of food, music, and community!
The Laughing Clam restaurant opened in May of 1996 by Dean and Peggy Hupp in historic downtown Grants Pass on G street. The building was originally home to a cigar factory in the early 1900's not long after the Brunswick bar, rumored to be from Indonesia, was installed. Since the 1920's this historic building has seen it all; from mercantile to saloon, longest running being the Past Time Tavern - though we're catching up!

In 2002, Doug and Sue Hudson purchased the restaurant, and later that year I joined the team as a server. I was immediately drawn to the charm of the old brick building, the historic back bar, and the live music that filled the space on weekends. It was— and still is—a fun, welcoming place, known for its atmosphere and standout seafood.. The fish tacos are still a favorite to this day!
In 2006, I had the opportunity to purchase the restaurant and embraced the challenge. The Clam is and always has been an extension of my home. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work with exceptional employees and build lasting relationships with customers who have become like family. My own kids were raised in this restaurant.. It's been a crazy ride; through recession, a fire that took out our back room, and covid just to name a few.

In celebration of 30 years, we'll be featuring some original menu items from 1996 throughout May. Stop by, share some of your favorite Laughing Clam memories, and check out our specials! With love, Keturah & The Laughing Clam Family

Strap in and get ready for a wild ride with Gunstock RED. This band’s music is a roller-coaster, taking listeners on a journey through southern rock, funk and everything in between. With a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh, their music pays homage to a wide range of music. GSR’s dynamic stage presence and infectious energy make them a standout act leaving a lasting impression on all who hear them.

Everything began with Simple Dreams Oregon - Ronstadt’s greatest hits, their signature full band musical tribute. A rich, emotional journey through Linda Ronstadt most beloved music, each performance is a love letter to an era of unmatched songwriting - delivered with powerhouse vocals, soaring, harmonies, and a band that plays with both passion and precision. It’s more than a concert. It’s a revival of spirit.
Not just a band—they’re a musical time machine that electrifies every event with an unparalleled song arsenal spanning the decades. From James Brown’s soulful grooves to Dua Lipa’s modern beats, from Beatles classic rock to Michael Jackson pop, they seamlessly flow through genres, curating pure musical energy that transforms any space into an unstoppable dance floor. With professional precision and infectious passion, Pozitronics doesn’t just play music—they create unforgettable experiences that keep every crowd moving from the first note to the last call.
Evening Shades is an indie/alternative rock band based in southern Oregon. With a modern, yet nostalgic sound, the band is known for their high energy, dynamic live shows. From driving, angsty rock anthems to stripped down, introspective and cheeky love songs, Evening Shades might be your new favorite band.
The John Dough Boys are a ruckus-inducing 5-piece string band formed in Southern Oregon. East met west, punk met bluegrass, and rock met folk, giving birth to a host of fast paced, foot stomping songs about women, beer and bad decisions. The lineup includes upright slap bass, drums, fiddle, guitar and banjo. Their aggressive live sound is infectious and is sure to leave anyone who witnesses it wanting more!
Join the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce as they honor four decades of music, community, and joy in Grants Pass. Looking forward to celebrating this “40th Year of Concerts in The Park“ milestone with you!

Tributary Whitewater Tours was founded by Dan Buckley in 1978. He wanted to share with others the excitement, wonder, and natural beauty that rivers have to offer. Since then he has been an integral player in the development of Whitewater Rafting.
In March of 2018 Dan sold the company to a young river guide who holds similar aspirations. Jeremiah Copper purchased not only Tributary Whitewater Tours, but also Adventure Connection. This formed one of the largest American River outfitters and at that time we rebranded as RaftCalifornia.com.
Over the next few years, Tributary Whitewater acquired more companies and river permits, including rivers in Oregon & Idaho. And now, having kept our official name as Tributary Whitewater, in 2023 we brought all the adventure under the one brand. Choose your river adventure on over 12 rivers!

The Young Professionals Network is for young professionals in the target age range of 18-45 who are looking for networking opportunities with other young professionals, connections to the community and business leaders, community engagement, and professional development. The network holds monthly luncheons, quarterly socials, and community service projects.

April seems to be a bit of calm before the busyness that is set to come with the onset of summer. In this season of “stop and smell the roses,” the Young Professionals Network kept forward momentum by hosting our Monthly Luncheon at the Hampton Inn & Suites. Our featured speaker was Jordan Mortenson of RecTech, sharing an inspiring story of triumph and persistence.
With nothing but a backpack and a hunger for change, Jordan came to Grants Pass in 2002. Homeless, he faced the tough decision to either freeze to death or go to the Gospel Rescue Mission. It was there that he started building computers and doing IT work, which led to volunteering for the Josephine Community Library, where he built their OPAC search system. Jordan attributes that experience and the library staff treating him like a human to changing his life.
In forward motion, Jordan began his own path as a business owner, building it step by step, piece by piece, focusing on steady progress rather than trying everything at once. As a self-proclaimed Computer Nerd, he leveraged his skills to develop security camera systems now used by our local Police Department. Jordan emphasizes the power in the term “fake it until you make it,” as long as you keep learning and moving forward.
Continuing on the path to growth, Jordan realized that stepping out of his comfort zone was essential. With that mindset, he started his own podcast and got involved civically. To further his path of betterment and self-growth, he joined the Chamber’s Rogue Leadership Academy. This 8-month cohort leads aspiring leaders through a progressive arc—beginning with personal foundations and culminating in economic impact and system change. The new cohort begins in October, and you can reach out to our Chamber CEO, Terry Hopkins, for more information.
Lastly, when asked, “If given the opportunity, what would you do differently?” Jordan confidently replied, “NOTHING!” His journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of community support.
For May, we will have two opportunities to connect; the Quarterly Adopt-a-Street Trash Cleanup and then Professional Development on Non-Profit Careers. Check the Chamber Community Calendar for details.
