“I needed to make sure I would be here for my kids." Local care helps Tina conquer breast cancer When Tina Hutnyck found a lump in her breast during a self-exam in May 2017, her stomach dropped. A single mom of two teenagers, Tina thought there was no way she could actually have breast cancer. But she knew she needed to get checked by her doctor to be sure. When the tests confirmed she had stage 2B breast cancer, Tina was stunned. “I was devastated, and I wondered how I could possibly get through this,” she remembers. 8 HealthView | gvh.org

Ultimately, Tina, a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner at Grand View OB-GYN Associates, chose to be cared for at Grand View. “I think the care available at Grand View is the best kept secret,” she says. “It’s as exceptional, if not better than, a big facility. You don’t feel like a number at Grand View, you feel like a person.” Receiving care close to home made it easier for Tina to be there for her children through eight rounds of chemotherapy
