USO STAGE DOOR CANTEEN— A BALLROOM DANCE Our special July dance honors the role that music and dance have played in war. From the Pipe and Drums in 1776 to the little girl singing in the cellars of Ukraine, music has always provided a respite and a morale boost to those who fought. Who can forget the dances by the United Service Organization (USO) during World War II? Helping us bring back memories is Vito Mandarino who will ply our ballroom dancers with waltzes, foxtrots, swing and Latin dances. Dressing to fit the WWII or military theme is optional but encouraged. It’s a ballroom dance so no jeans, shorts, or flip flops. The Jukebox Junkies feature talented Grand entertainers Donna Mills, Marv Myhre, Terry Pierce and BJ Davis. Performing professionally for 15 years, their music is live, lively and from an era when jukeboxes were still around; when “life was simple, gas was cheap, and Elvis was King”. The JJ’s are well known for their vocal harmonizing, reminiscent of the Beach Boys, Lettermen, Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon & Garfunkel and other groups of that time period. If you enjoy songs like “Barbara Ann”, “Blowin’ in the Wind”, “Put Your Head on my Shoulder”, and “California Dreaming”, you won’t want to miss a delightful “Yesteryear” evening with the Jukebox Junkies! LIVE AT CIMARRON Every 4th Tuesday of the month (excluding holidays), starting September 27, 2022, one of our local SCG Bands will play an evening in the Cimarron Club. The Salty Dawgs and Gold Rush will anchor these shows and will feature their own members as well as their guest artists. Some of the most talented performers in Sun City Grand will be featured. Tuesday, September 27th, The Salty Dawgs and Friends will feature the music of singer/songwriter John Prine as well as songs by the Eagles, John Denver, Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. Guest instrumentalists will include fiddle, piano and congas. Bring your own dry snacks.
