Legacy Stroke Play (RMS) This year’s Legacy Stroke Play event was well attended and the course was in great shape. We had a total of 22 men and 12 ladies playing. Our gross winner in the men’s division was Cary Taylor with a score of 74; 2nd and 3rd place was determined by a match of cards. Bill Lewis and Simon Davison both drew a 77, with Bill Lewis eventually winning the match. It was a close battle for the net winners in the men’s division with all shooting a net 68. Winning 1st in the match of cards was John Pelfrey. Coming in 2nd in the match of cards was Jack Paton and coming in 3rd was Bill Sussman. Our ladies gross winner was Roberta Sentel with a score of 76. Winning the ladies net with a net score of 65 was Terry Pyle. Also big congratulations to Jim Shelton on his hole in one on Palmer #16. Thank you for everyone’s participation.

Thanksgiving Day Scramble This year’s Turkey Scramble was a good event with a total of 17 teams competing. The gross winners of this year’s Turkey scramble were the team of Bill and Jennifer Mackie and Jim and Jeanette Osborn. Winning the net division by a half stroke was the team of Cameron and Leslie McLatchie and Jack and Mary Paton. Coming in 2nd place was the team of Simon Davison, Charles and Janet Phelps, and Tom Baer with a score of 54.5. And coming in 3rd place was the team of Gerald and Donna Foley, Isabel Robertson, and David White. Thank you for a great turnout and we hope to get the same participation next year.

Bev Kelber named November 2015 Reunion Club Member Recognition Program (MERP) Winner Reunion Resort & Club’s Director of Membership, Bev Kelber, was chosen as the recipient for the November MERP award. Bev has been with the company for 10 ½ years and has been Reunion’s Membership Director since 2008.

Please congratulate Bev when you see her around the Club.

Although only one employee receives this monthly award, all of the employees nominated receive peer and management recognition at special employee breakfasts throughout the year. You can submit a ballot for an employee who has demonstrated exceptional service at any time – not just within the month the service was performed. MERP ballots are available at all Reunion outlets, click here to access and submit a ballot online or simply email the Reunion Membership Office at MERP@reunionresort.com. A call for nominations will also be sent by the Membership Office via email once per month to remind you to submit your choice(s) for the monthly MERP award.

gath erings | 11

Three nominations were submitted for Bev for the month. Comments included “She gives tirelessly of her personal time to the Membership events and (providing) Member information,“ and “She tries so hard to solve every problem that is brought to her, even those that have nothing to do with Membership. We have known her for over 10 years and have watched her go above and beyond on every issue. She spends more time at Reunion than at home. She is an outstanding employee and now also a friend. Reunion, as well as the members, are so lucky to have her.”

The Member Employee Recognition Program (“MERP”) gives Members the opportunity to recognize deserving Reunion employees. Every outlet has ballots available for you to nominate and describe why you think the employee should be the next winner. Remember to take advantage of this opportunity and let them know we notice and appreciate their efforts to make us happy to be here at Reunion.

Inside T H E L I N E S

Equipment There is a whole lot more to playing tennis rather than just hitting a forehand or a volley. Many people don’t understand that their equipment plays a much bigger role in their tennis game than they realize. A person’s equipment will not make them hit a forehand like Nadal, it will not make them cover the court like Murray, but it can help them with parts of their game they are struggling with. Racquet: You just can’t go out and buy a racquet without first trying it on the court. There are certain racquets (weights, grip size, string pattern, etc) that greatly impact how you will hit the ball. The wrong racquet can actually cause injuries.

Grips: This is another area where players don’t realize the effect that a worn out grip has on their play. An overused grip will have some slipping on off center hits (of which no one does…). Grips are extremely inexpensive, usually around $6 for three which should last you three months. Shoes: Tennis is considered a high impact sport, not because someone is tackling but simply because of all the jumping and running. Don’t look for the cheapest shoes, the cheaper the shoes the less technology they have in them (generally). You might think you don’t need the shoes with more technology but the abuse doesn’t just happen in their feet but also the legs and back. Before purchasing any tennis equipment, please ask a certified tennis professional as they would be up to date with all the newest technology and equipment.

Tennis Singles Ladder Come and join our singles tennis ladder if you are not already participating. To sign up or for more information, contact the Tennis Pro Shop at 407.662.1630 or tennis@reunionresort.com.

gath erings | 15

Strings: I always find it amazing when someone buys a nice racquet but asks us to string it up with the cheapest string. The strings are the part that actually

hit the ball! This is the part of the racquet that you should really be talking with the professional about to determine what you need. Do you need a softer string to absorb vibration (helping tennis elbow) or do you need a string that is meant for more durability?
