INCREDIBLE COURSE Renovations Complete

BIG UPDATES to the Ocean Club

GD APPRECIATION Gala Recap

LIV IN G GR AN DE Dear Residents, As the weather is quickly shifting from spring to summer, the Grande Dunes team has been heavily focused on delivering new improvements and renovations to our beautiful community! We are committed to ensuring we continuously improve the lives our residents, their safety and satisfaction, and we feel that these new improvements will address all three of these. The Ocean Club is undergoing a substantial renovation to its second floor. Our plans enable much more natural lighting and a better use of space. In fact, 70% of the second floor will now have an ocean view! We are also creating dedicated spaces where residents can have club meetings and enjoy activities. Finally, there will be offices where our team can meet with guests about upcoming weddings or events. The Members Club course’s bunkers and greens renovations are proving to be a success! The entire team is excited for these updates, as it will bring our golfing experience to a whole new level. A special thanks to Craig Schreiner for returning to Grande Dunes to help facilitate our efforts. The site planning for Waterway Hills Village has begun, and we cannot wait to share what we have in store. We should start going vertical at the end of the year, which is fantastic news for the growing list of those interested in our newest village. I know I speak for the entire Grande Dunes team when I say that we are truly blessed for our community, our residents and the memories we are making. We are excited for the future and the years to come!

Sincerely, Margaret LaCalle

GRANDE DUNES LIFE So much has changed since I first wrote this article. Unfortunately we cancelled everything we were planning for the

month of April and many events for the month of May. BUT, if everything is back to normal by June and we are on the other side of this pandemic... then put your seat belts on because the rest of the year is going to be a wild and fun ride! In the meantime I pray everyone stays safe and adheres to the Governor's executive orders through practicing social distancing and all the other health care tips like wash your hands often, disinfect all objects you touch frequently, drink plenty of water and warm liquids, eat a healthy and well balanced diet, exercise, take your vitamins especially A, B, C, D, E and Zinc to build up your immune system. Avoid sugars and get plenty of rest. All of these things are simple things you can do at home and help build up a stronger immune system. Check in on your friends and neighbors and support our local restaurants who are offering curbside pick up and take out during this time of adjustments. I am praying for you all. Do not hesitate to reach out to someone if you need help. We need to be here for each other and we will come out stronger at the end of all this.

... and the bunkers are done. Gosh, I know how corny that sounds, but we are so pleased with the completion of the bunkers and just how smooth the process went. We started the renovation on December 2nd and had a 90-day window for completion. Yet, we finished the project on February 8th, that was 3 weeks earlier than anticipated and from start to finish we were done in 68 days!

The bunkers look great and we are very happy with the renovation; and we feel confident that our golf members and guests will be happy as well. He has been active with the Rotary Club, served on committees such as Waves of the Future, Happy Feet, Salvation Army, volunteered for the Community Kitchen, made food deliveries with Catholic Charities, served on Turtle Patrol and has been the organizer for many Red Cross Blood Drives. He unfortunately suffered a stroke last year and has been working very hard going through the rehabilitation process as he is most happy when he is out serving. His beautiful wife Lucy has been by his side helping him through his challenges and it was my distinct honor and privilege to award our “Community Service Volunteer of the Year Award” to Mr. Alan Holet. “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”, are the famous words from Helen Keller and the inspiration to start our Grande Dunes Cares group initiative. With the help of our volunteers in 2019, we were able to help 15 different charities with 24 events and raised just under $20,000! This led us right in to recognizing an angel in our community that volunteers at every single event we have. He helps me set up, tear down, shop, clean up, pick up, load and unload, all for me and the residents in Grande Dunes and never expects anything in return. He puts up with my crazy hours and long days and never complains when he has to eat dinner by himself. He is always so supportive and my rock…he is my husband, Joe Davis. We have a very special fundraiser planned for May 16th called "Carnegie Hall is coming to Grande Dunes" at the Ocean Club for

This event is Pending so if we have to cancel, we will try and reschedule it for later date, so stay tuned! You can also save the date for June 8th for an evening with Francis Gary Powers, Jr., author of the “Spy Pilot”. He will share with us the story about his father as a POW during the cold war and how his father was traded for a Russian spy. His story inspired Steven Spielberg’s movie “Bridge of Spies”. This event will benefit MOAA and is also Pending. Go to GrandeDunes.com for all the public Marina Park events and the Member Web for all the Ocean Club events. CAPE for a CAUSE PROCEEDS FROM THE CAPE HOME SALES ARE HELPING FAMILIES ACROSS THE WORLD. As The Cape opens for homebuyers, Grande Dunes, our team and valued builder partners are dedicated to contributing to the greater good. For each sale in The Cape, the partnership of Coastal Land & Development, LLC, Traditional Homebuilders, Inc. and Grande Dunes has pledged to donate to Okodwela, a nonprofit that supports the construction of homes in rural Africa. Okodwela’s work has brought stability to families in need, which has led to increased employment, income and education. “We look forward to continuing this partnership between The Cape at Grande Dunes and Okodwela in order to provide for those in need,” said Drew Flynn, Vice President of Coastal Land & Development, LLC The Cape’s first donation of $3,500 led to the completion of Okodwela’s seventh house built in Livingstone, Zambia. This donation was enough to provide a family of 4 with land, a home, food, education, medical supplies and a skill development course for the parents. If you are interested in The Cape and its all-brick, Cape Dutch-style homes, schedule a private tour at the model in Cipriana Park.

WATERSIDE POINTE

An Exceptional Response Ever since the launch of our active adult neighborhood Waterside Pointe, the response from our residents and the community has been incredible. Thanks to this response, there are only a few homesites remaining! So, why has Waterside Pointe almost reached “Sold Out” status so quickly? The answer may lie in the fact that some of the area’s very best builders, Carrell Group and Nations Homes II, are crafting gorgeous Lowcountry-style custom homes. It could also be that, in a nationwide first, residents have access to both Grande Dunes amenities and the amazing amenities of Del Webb. It could also be the fact that it’s nestled in the heart of Marina Village, just minutes from our incredible Marina on the Intracoastal Waterway. But we know that it is really all of these traits combined with the exceptional sense of community we have in Grande Dunes that makes this neighborhood truly special. It’s clear to see why there are only a few homesites remaining. The FINAL opportunities in Waterside Pointe are waiting for you. We invite you to learn more by contacting Grande Dunes Properties today. VISIT
