Rendered Floor Plan

This design is a place of refuge and freedom that seeks to liberate those in a confining circumstance. Through the uses of natural materials, free form, texture, and the implementation of the beautiful Michigan lake, freedom and hope are found. Multi-level ceilings, materials, and swirling way finding patterns translate the journey of the disease for those experiencing it. Gardens and decorative glass persuade a peaceful and hopeful environment while allowing the privacy to process and escape. Beauty is found in an environment that celebrates life and healing.

Infusion Bay Infursion Bay

At the center of the design, is the infusion bays. Each infusion bay is centered around a beautiful garden that includes little visitors such as birds and butterflies. A little outside of the infusion bays is a small seating area for those accompanying loved ones getting chemo and need a more open space. The main nurse station is also located directly behind the bays for easy access. The infusion bays are separated by a resin panel that demonstrates the lake Michigan water and allows for a more private experience. Knowing that the majority of the cancer patients have customized chemo therapy, these patients most likely are in these infusion bays quite often. It was important to therefore allow them to create their own enjoyable experience. If needing a change of scenery, the patient has the ability to pull a tv screen monitor off the wall and pick their choice of movie, show, any type of nature scenery, or music.

MAIN ENTRANCE

Some guiding pricipals for this design are:

The design of the facility must remain relevant for decades to come in both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

A facility that not only enhances student development but is also utilized by and provides value to the entire community.

Spaces that are functional for their given program but can adapt to future trends in CTE curriculum.

A way to establish and unify the district brand and improve campus wayfinding.

Some concept words that were demonstrated in this deign are light, color, growth, whimsical, and comfort. Light is shown with the play on light in several of the windows through stained glass, geometric shapes, or inspirational words. Color is used throughout the entire space with the use of bright colors in the floor wayfinding design and other elements of furniture, paint, and so on. Growth is demonstrated through the use of linear objects, demonstrating an upward path of growth and new enlightenment. Whimsical is shown in the abstract, exciting way this design allows kids to explore through different ways to learn and develop into the person they are becoming. Lastly, comfort is shown in the core of this design and center.

Door Wayfinding

Each door represents the color scheme of the room and therefore the age group. The flooring also is connected with the same color on the floor and the door.

Floor Wayfinding

The rubber flooring is defined by the 5 color schemes of this space: blue, green, orange, purple, and neutral. Each color is oriented in a patterned, linear scheme that points towards each classroom, identifying its own identity. It also helps carry the color scheme.

Light Wayfinding

The light reflects an identical pattern as the floor to show that unwavering awareness of direction.

Tulsa Early Education Center

At the center of this floor plan is an open space called the Sensory Explore Lab. This is a space with different fun, explorative stations for kids to have fun in. This is available for kids before and after school for free time or classroom activities/explorative learning.

Sensory Lab

This design has created a resource room for kids to have access to necessary supplies such as food, clothes, and school supplies. If there is anything we have learned from the pandemic, it is the vital information of how important education places are for students. We have learned that a lot of the food and resources a kid gets throughout their day is solely from their school and therefore it is extremely important that this design goes above and beyond to provide those resources. This availability of resources along with the loving an comfortable environment of this education center is the heart of this design. The resource room is the closest to the main entrance and exit and therefore is easily attainable for those about to leave or when entering.
