Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program (KCCP) Inspiration: In 1964 PNW Governor Frank Morehouse had the opportunity to work as a Medical Technologist at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford Oregon, where he met Penny, a 10 year old brain cancer patient. His relationship with Penny and her fatal condition is the inspiration for this PNW District Program. Governor Frank is dedicating his Governor’s Program to the memory of Penny to help change the future for children suffering from cancer, especially brain cancer.

Divisional KCCP Plan Division 30 KCCP Plan Service Project: The Divisional BBQ was planned to be during September where the funds raised will go to KCCP, but because of the Puyallup Fair, it’ll be planned later in the year. I'm also thinking about BINGO nights with a spaghetti feed and socials where there would be raffles and things like that. Also host a table at the mall during December to wrap gifts and explain KCCP. We could also partner with a local restaurant and figure a day to promote them within our schools and get half of the profits made. These are only suggestions, let me know if you would like to do any of these or have your own ideas. Goal: Awareness of KCCP throughout the school and community. Hopefully all the clubs in the division will become more open to each other and ideas of inter-clubs and to also get some clubs working with other parts of the K-Family.

Divisional Progress
Rough Monetary Goal for Each Club: The first goal for each club is $200. But once you reach $200, your new goal becomes $500. I am hoping that by the time 2012 District Convention, we have raised awareness for KCCP and over $3,500. I will be updating the thermometer to the left and creating individual thermometers for each club. So whenever you earn funds for KCCP, always let me know! Whether if it’s $20 or $150, you have to let me know. Estimate End Date: Hopefully all of the goals will be reached by February/early March.

I’ve put you into committees based on which school you go to. So in-person meetings should be easy to schedule, if this is a problem let me know. This is a great way to communicate with other clubs in our division! Talk with your committee partner, but also chat with other committees and work together. Let’s make this successful! The ELIMINATE Project Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to save the lives of babies and their mothers by eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus (MNT), a disease that kills an estimated 60,000 newborns and a significant number of women each year.

MNT is easily prevented by a series of three vaccinations to women of childbearing age, costing roughly US$1.80. The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus will raise US$110 million over the next five years to fill the funding gap required to provide an estimated 387 million doses of the vaccine. The Eliminate Project will deliver life saving vaccines to the most vulnerable women and children in the world: those in remote and difficult to reach areas; conflict zones; and with little access to healthcare.

UNICEF For more than 60 years, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has served as the Original Kids Helping Kids campaign. In 1950, children across America were inspired to collect coins for UNICEF to aid children abroad enduring the after-effects of World War II. It was not just a charity effort—it was a call to end the needless suffering of their more vulnerable peers around the globe. Since then, for generations of Americans, Trick-orTreat for UNICEF has been a powerful way to make a difference in the lives of the world’s children.
Now in its 18th year of partnership, Key Club has raised over $5 million for UNICEF and will continue its support of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.
Today, that mission is as urgent as ever, and the campaign is just as vibrant.

Step 1: Go to the Membership Update Center. (Go to www.keyclub.org > Click "Dues & Reports" > Click "Access the Membership Update Center Now.") .
Step 2: Fill out the "Key Club Number" and "Password" field. This information should come in the mail; if you haven't received it let me know! .
Step 3: Follow the directions on the screen. Update the Club advisor information, delete any members from the roster that are no longer part of the club, update the information for existing members, and add your new members. .
Step 4: Double check the information. Generate the invoice when you are ready. .
Step 5: On the "Invoicing" page, click "Click here for a printable invoice." Review the invoice. Click ">>> Click here to print <<<" to print. After printing, click on "You must click here to finish the process."

It is an award that a Key Club can win if it has 15 paid members by November 1st. All early bird winners will be recognized at District Convention, so it’s an extra incentive for clubs to pay their dues early.

International Service Partners The service partner for the months of September to December is UNICEF. So get out those orange Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes and support UNICEF and the Eliminate project.

How we help: Since 1994, Key Clubbers have raised over $5 million for UNICEF.

Our new International Trustee is Cole Hickman from the California-Nevada-Hawaii District. He was last a Club President. His main goals are : Web Communication, Sister Clubs, Promote International Major Emphasis programs, and to make connections. Let’s give him a welcome from Division 30 in the PNW!

Small and easy fundraisers Hold a miracle minute during your first club meeting and/or once a month. Collect spare change in a jar and count it at the end of a month. Hold an ice cream social or a hands-on meeting for KCCP to make trauma dolls. On a bigger scale: work with Krispy Kreme or organize a car wash and explain KCCP while their car is washed.
