Unit Assessment is by means of essays and source-based answers written under strict examination conditions in class time. Home exercises will prepare the pupils for this assessment but only assessments tackled in school time will count towards formal assessment. (a) The Course will be examined through a final, externally prepared examination. Paper 1 requires the writing of two essays and lasts 1 hour 20 minutes. Paper 2 tests evaluation and use of sources related to Unit 3 and lasts 1 hour 25 minutes. (b) All students must also prepare and then write up an “Extended Essay” worth 30 marks. A 200-word plan is used to do this and the finalized result is externally marked.
