The award honors ➤ Red Worrell freshman fullback Robert T. “Red” Worrell, who was electrocuted at his home in Denbo, Pa., in December 1957. The Worrell Award was restricted to offensive players with the inception of the Jim O’Hora Award for defensive players in 1977. ➤ JOHN BRUNO JR. MEMORIAL AWARD The John Bruno Jr. Memorial Award is presented to the outstanding member of the Penn State special teams. The award honors former Nittany Lion John Bruno Jr., who died of ➤ John Bruno Jr. cancer in 1992. Bruno was the squad’s punter from 1984-86 and his 41.7-yard career average was then the thirdhighest in school history.
