NALLEY

Patrick Nalley begins his first season with the Penn State swimming and diving programs, coming to Happy Valley from Tempe, Ariz. where he was a coach with Sun Devil Aquatics. With Sun Devil Aquatics, Nalley served as the head coach of the entire program, responsible for the gold, black and National Training Groups, which is made up of the top swimmers and produces swimmers for the U.S. National Team pool. Before his stint with Sun Devil Aquatics, Nalley was an assistant coach on staff at Arizona State University from 2007-2010. While at ASU, Nalley assisted in everyday workouts and specialized in training the sprinters, breaststrokers and IM groups. The coach also assisted in the recruiting aspect while on the Sun Devil staff. Prior to his time with ASU, Nalley was a site coordinator for Sun Devil Aquatics, coaching various ages and skill levels, while honing his coaching skills and building a wide variety of experience. Nalley was in charge of monitoring four separate training sites to instill stability in the program. Nalley began his coaching career as a high school assistant coach in Colorado. He then accepted an offer to be an age group coach for the Falfins Swim Team, a local Colorado club team under head coach Greg Winslow. With the Falfins, Patrick taught young swimmers technique and strategy while sharing his passion for the sport.

BURKE

Amanda Burke joins the Penn State coaching staff as an assistant diving coach for the 2013-14 season. Burke comes to Happy Valley from George Mason University, where she served as a volunteer assistant coach. During her time with George Mason, the team won multiple conference titles and had two divers earn the CAA Diver of the Year award. In 2012, the Patriots had their first male NCAA Championship qualifier in diving with Burke on staff. While at GMU, Burke also helped coach the Junior Olympic team at the Mason Dive Academy. As a competitor, Burke thrived on the collegiate and national scene. Burke graduated from Rider University in 2010. During her time as a Bronc, Burke won seven individual MAAC Championships and qualified for the NCAA Championships in three of her four seasons. After college Burke continued to compete on the national stage. The Rider graduate has been a two-year team member of USA Diving for 2012 and 2013. Burke claimed the national championship at Senior Nationals and placed seventh in the three-meter synchronized diving event at the 2013 World Championships. Burke grew up in Bucks County, Pa. and graduated from William Tennent High School.

Two years after he began work with the Falfins, Patrick was offered the head coach position of the Colorado Rapids Swim Team. As head coach for the Rapids, Patrick coached every swimmer on the team from the ages 6-18. Nalley quickly built a reputation as a strong coach and instructor and became the head coach of both the men’s and women’s swim teams at Liberty High School, where he led the program for three years. While at Liberty, Nalley led the school to its best season in nine seasons and produced a top-16 relay team made up of three freshmen and one sophomore. After his stint with Liberty he moved out to Arizona to further pursue his coaching passion. Nalley graduated cum laude from Arizona State University in 2010 with a bachelor of interdisciplinary studies. He grew up swimming in Fort Wayne, Ind. and swam collegiately for the University of Kentucky, while majoring in finance and marketing. After college Nalley lived in Arlington, Texas before moving to Colorado Springs, Colo., where he began his coaching career.
