A Maggie’s centre is basically a free cancer treatment centres, named after the Late Maggie Keswick Jencks, who died of cancer in 1995. Maggie’s opened their centres across the Europe and then reached to other continents.Till date theres no Maggie’s in India. The idea here was to get Maggie’s to Delhi, India.
We had to design 3 maggie’s as per considering 3 conditions -
Scheme1- To retro-fit the maggie’s to a cancer hospital, using atleast one of its cores or services.
Scheme2- Placing it at a walking distance within the campus of the hospital.
Scheme3- Placing it a distance of 3-4km, so that it can be accessed through vehicles.
A Interpretation Centre in fatehpur sikri complex is made where people can get knowledge about the history of fatehpur sikri, its art and architecture and about the mighty Mughal Empire.
It contains spaces like exhibition halls, institutional spaces such as conference rooms, classrooms, discussion hall, OAT, restaurants, public amenities.
Majorly 5 aspects were to be displayed-
Akbar, Sufism, History, Sandstone, Conservations
Vernacular setting is one which adapt on its own. Socio-Cultural relation is the most important in vernacular set-up.
Here this vernacular house is designed using the locally available material as cowdung-mud composite, serkanda, wood, etc. in a way that they do complete justice with the kind of spaces as well as suits the inhabitants of the house.
Its an exploration exercise where a module of 4x4x4 is to be explored doing modulations and alterations.
Using this module of 4x4x4 repetitively (mirroring, cutting or by anyother transformations) creating 16x16x16 and see the montage expression we can get out of it.
