f you want mouthwatering pizza with a hometown feel, Palio’s Pizza Café is the place to be.
Palio’s owner, Joey Schneider, says, “Our business is known for the personal service. We try very hard to have a Mom and Pop feel when you step in. We do our best to remember your orders before you even place them.” While Palio’s target customer is the pizza lover with exceptional taste, Palio’s offers more than just pizzas. Palio’s offers five different salads, seven sandwiches, nine pasta dishes, six desserts and four sides. They also have 22 different pizza options, including The Scorcher, the Hawaiian Sunrise and Frank’s Buffalo Chicken Pizza. With gluten-free dough and vegetarian options available, Palio’s menu is also allergy friendly. Schneider says, “We try our hardest to provide food for all dietary requirements. I have only been stumped once in 13 years by not being able to meet someone’s food allergies.” Not only is Palio’s menu diverse, but it is actually healthy. and everything is prepared fresh multiple times a day. Their thin crust pizzas are also loaded with toppings, which make their pizzas more of a balanced meal than competitors’ pizzas. It is clear that Schneider is passionate about serving people great tasting pizza that is great for them too. Owner Joey Schneider has been working for Palio’s since June 2001, when he worked with the creator of the Palio concept, Harry Awad, to build stores, train employees and market the company. Then in January 2009, Joey Schneider and his business partner TJ Hanley opened their own Palio’s in Denton. At only 28, Joey Schneider has already accomplished a great deal. He says, “My business partner and I move at a million miles an hour. In less than 5 years we have opened 4 locations...I love to be busy all the time.” Schneider is definitely busy. He regularly logs between 70 and 100 hours a week at work, and he has worked in literally every single position at Palio’s, from manager to audit to owner.

everything he does is ultimately for his family. He says, “I strive to show my children that with hard work and determination, you can be successful. Nothing that is worth while is given to you in this world. It must be worked hard for.” Palio’s is not just about pizza; Schneider also works hard to give back to the community. He works with local chamber members, businesses, schools and churches. He gives out free vouches for auctions, donates proceeds to charity and feeds entire organizations for free. While he would never turn anyone away, his heart especially goes out to volunteer activities that help the needy or children as well as local churches and organizations that help large groups of people.

It comes as no surprise that Palio’s has won several awards and honors over the years. Palio’s was voted “Tastiest Italian in North Texas” five times by Taste of North Texas. They were named one of the “Top 5 Best Pizzas in Dallas” by WFAA A-list. They were named “Best of Denton 2012” by the Denton Award Program and “Best of the Best Pizza” by the Denton Record Chronicle two years in a row. Palio’s has also won numerous Grapevine awards and they have been featured on several news programs, on HGTV and in several newspapers as well.
Schneider is not all work and no play, however. On the rare mornings he is not working, he can be found spending time with the people who matter most to him: his wife and two boys. While some may consider him a work-a-holic, he says that
