the animation in real time, in my case with 25 frames per second, is important. This cannot always be achieved, though, when complex animations or high-resolution objects have to be displayed. In these cases, the Onion Skinning can be a big help since it depicts past and future states of an animated object within one image. Apply a Display tag to the animated object. This tag can be found in the context menu in the CINEMA 4D Tags, after a right click on the object in the Object Manager.

You can activate this effect in the Ghostsettings. Several display modes offer different views in the editor. Figure 4.88 shows an example. The movement phases of ob­jects can be shown as a track curve, as single points, or as the whole object surface. With deformations there are certain restrictions, since the animation has to be saved first in a cache with the Display tag. You can find the corresponding function in the lower part of the dialog.
