Most of my life I have been a student, a teacher or both. The beginning of a new school year affects me the way a starting bell affects a racehorse. I wake up one day full of purpose, determined to find my dictionary and my favorite reference sheet of math formulas, my diagram of a cell and my map of the world. Learning about the love of God has its basic supplies too. I need a quiet place and breath of air. I need a Bible or two or three. And I need prayer, deep oceans of it to cool my head and teach me how to listen. I even need life’s hectic situations to force me to let go and put it all into God’s hands. God of all there is to learn, teach me the ways of your steadfast love. Amen
