Calm In The Storm

Let’s face it: finding peace whenever you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel or when you can’t feel that everything will be okay is very difficult. Most of the time, in fact, it seems impossible. The truth is we will all be knocked down at some point in our lives, but the choice to rise up from the ashes will always fall on us.
There have been times in my life when I have been completely knocked off of my feet, and it is so hard to focus in the middle of a storm. It is so hard to hear that “still small voice” of God’s Holy Spirit with everything raging around you. No matter how hard we try, we will never understand or be able to wrap our minds around God and His ways or His overall plan. If we could do that, He wouldn’t be God. The more we study and the more we pray and the more we just walk and talk with Him on a daily basis, the more we will begin to understand that He does have a plan and that we do have a part in His plan for us and for the whole world. There are many great Scriptures in God’s Word to help us run this race of life and to give us hope, courage, and strength like no other; to give us a calmness like no other; and to know that no matter the storm or battle, our God is still in control, and through Him and His strength we can and will overcome anything that comes against us. 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 7 tells us, “God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” This says that if we have His Spirit, then 20 // July 2020
we have the power to overcome. We have the power to have victory over any situation, over an obstacle that we may encounter, no matter who or what it may be. It also tells me that we have a love inside of us to help us give of ourselves and our means even when we don’t understand. We have a love to help us become all that He calls us to be for His honor and glory and praise and also
a frame of mind, a calmness, that can only come from Him to know that we can have peace in the midst of it all, even in the midst of the battle.
Tell someone that you love them today, and tell someone that Jesus loves them too.
