Building a Home Series
The Purchasing Process
Here at Activa, we are the local experts in all things home building related. In our new ‘Building a Home’ series, you’ll learn about the in-depth process of purchasing a new build from start to finish and you can follow our tips along the way! We are dedicated to making every step understandable, and hopefully, feel less overwhelming. We’ve already discussed the shopping process so now it’s time to move on to something a little more fun – The Purchasing Process! Read on to learn how easy purchasing a new home with Activa is.
Meet with a sales representative
Our Activa Sales Representative will review your must-haves list with you and see what’s available to suit your new home needs. When you meet with our Sales Representatives be sure to bring the following to make the process as seamless as possible:
• A government-issued photo ID
• Proof of financing from an authorized lender or financial institution
• If you’re being represented by a Realtor, please bring a Confirmation of Cooperation and a Representative Form
• A $5000 deposit cheque
The purchasing process
Our team will help you select a lot for your new dream home and will walk you through our home design options. If your must-have list includes a finished basement or an extra bedroom – now is your chance! When you pick your home design you will notice many of our floorplans include optional structural changes such as extra bedrooms, a finished basement, an upper-level laundry room, home office space and more. Many of our home designs also offer different elevations to choose from, so you can pick a style that reflects your unique taste.

Purchasing agreement
We hope this paints a clearer picture of what we offer to make purchasing a new home as seamless as possible. Next up – selecting finishes in our Design Studio! Once your floor plan, structural options and lot are selected, our Sales Representatives will review your Agreement of Purchase and Sale (APS) with you. This is a legally binding document that outlines the terms and conditions of your purchase. Once you’ve signed this and waived any conditions, your offer will become firm and the fun of interior options selections can begin!

Pre-Construction
Our experienced in-house drafting department will complete a set of working drawings for your new home which are used to apply for a building permit. As a courtesy, we offer our clients a review of these drawings (applies to a single-detached product only). Once you’re firm, you’ll also receive an email from your Customer Experience Coordinator who will be by your side for the rest of your home buying journey.

Stay Tuned
We hope this paints a clearer picture of what we offer to make purchasing a new home as seamless as possible.
