GOLF TRAILS Thames Judy Watene led the women’s scoring with 46 points, followed by Barbara McFarlane, also from Thames. In the men’s event, Hauraki men dominated, with young golfers Korbin Green and Keegan Walsh having the rounds of the day with 46 and 44 points.

THAMES VALLEY INTERCLUB — BIRCHALL SHIELD 2014 Honours were shared for the recently Held Thames Valley Interclub event played at Hauraki Golf Club on October 19. Played in great conditions.This competition has been played since 1989 between teams of 12 men and eight women from Hauraki, Thames, Paeroa and Waihi contesting the Birchall, Valley and Tennent Shields, and the Draghici Tankard. Playing a stableford competition, scores from each team were averaged to determine the winners.

WAIHI GOLF CLUB RAISES $1200+ FOR ST JOHNS Waihi Golf club’s St Johns Charity Golf Tournament was played in stunning conditions on Sunday October 19. Club players supported fund-raising efforts on the day, and together with local businesses, who had been very generous in their sponsorship, an auction of a donated electric golf trundler, the money raised for St John was in excess of $1200. SPRING PAIRS AT WALTON

Walton Golf Club’s Ladies recently played their Spring PAIRS tournament with 27 clubs participating and 106 ladies playing. It was a beautiful day with some good golfing happening and the winners were locals LeeAnne Pitcon and Heather Sharp (pictured) with joint 81 stablefords, second Lesley Carter & Dianne Sweeney 79. Local winner of the McClean Basket with a Nett of 66 was Yvonne Cowlrick. 
