camaraderie that is associated with this Foursomes event, made possible through the continued sponsorship of “Pacific Coast Village”. Div 1: The 13th seeded Flattery’s had first to overcome 4th seeded A & R Te Moni, previous winners and regular high performers, then another local pairing of Vantol/Noel before meeting and winning over White/ Meade (Mount/Hamitlon) in the finals. White/Meade proved too good for the M & R Te Moni (Ngaruawahia) also proven good performers, to move on to move the Cho’s (North Shore) to the Flights and followed up by beating the Kirsopp’s (Te Awamutu) (who eventually won Flight 1). Div 2: Winners, 6th seeded Wayne Ashworth (Mount)/Roz Taylor (Waiheke Island) won over Newson/Baker (Mount), then H & M Drost followed by the Shaws (Mount) before defeating another good Mount pairing of Jim Uden and Sandy Long. Uden/Long as 12 seeds, had to defeat Payne/Young pairing before confronting a colourful Mount pairing of Ward/Winhoven and then dismissing P & C Pratt (Whangamata) to a flight. Div 3 Leading out as a win all, the 10th seed pairing of Derek & Jenny Beard (Mount) won over the Bain’s (Fairview), defeated the York’s (Remuera), (2012 Group winners), before taking out the win over the McRobbies (Maramarua). The McRobbie’s as the 10th seed pair followed a similar trail defeating Mount
pairings of the Winstanley’s then another Mount pair, B & V Peter’s before sending the B & G Thomson (Hamilton) off to the Flights. No 1 seeding John and Julie Sheridan fought through to a Flight 4 win. Div 4. B & Y Oxenham (Matamata), a 12 seed pairing, started with a win over the Bezer’s (Otumoetai), then sent Jopson/Cameron (Mount) to the Flights before doing the same to Uden/Fielden (Mount/Omanu). Then a win in the final match over the Akarana pairing of M & J Hannan. M & J Hannan, as a 6th seed pair, managed a win over 11th seed A & S Cornes (Matamata) leading on to another win against the pair of G Hendrickson & L Irving. On to the Jenkins/Palmer pair (Mount) who the sent off to the flight only to meet the eventual winners

Te Puke welcomes 4 Day Vets The week of November 11 to 14 saw 4 days of mixed Vets showing off their talents in a mix of events, ranging from combined stableford to American and Canadian foursomes. The club had 16 campervans on site for the week, and hosted 38 pairs in the annual tournament. The weather played its part and everyone went home happy in the knowledge that they’d experienced “the best place to play in the Bay”. Many of the campers will come back not just for next years event, but to use the club as a stop-

over, as we have 12 powered sites to offer golfers and non golfers a stay anytime. Golfers can stay for free if they’re playing a round here, or $10 a nite as a stop over. The golf course, just south of Te Puke on the Whakatane highway turn off, is looking fantastic, and the greens are almost back to their slick best after renovation week in late October. The course Superintendant, Mike Homer, says “they’re almost at 9 on the Stimp meter, but they’ll be even quicker next week”. For you golfers out there, 9 – 10 on the stimp is getting real slick (PGA Pro events in the States run at 12 – 13, like putting on ice). Movember is a huge month for events at Golf TePuke. Melbourne Cup day was on Nov 5, Farmlands Corporate day was on Nov 7, Seeka Club Closing day was on Nov
