Driving growth of GolfSixes League through indoor golf.

Supported by The R&A, GolfSixes League provides diverse opportunities for all types of players to get involved in golf. As part of its continued expansion, the indoor spinoff was an international league played on simulators at indoor venues and driving ranges across Europe.

Golf Genius mobile app. Team registration, communication, round scoring and results were all powered through Golf Genius Tournament Management.

6-person teams competed in a scramble format over two rounds during a 60-day period.

GolfSixes League is played in more than 20 countries worldwide, attracting 12,000+ golfers.

Combining Golf Genius’ Tournament Management software with TrackMan’s simulator technology and 6-hole golf course portfolio, Indoor GolfSixes League organisers received a system capable of managing its unique set of requirements and allowed maximum flexibility for them and their players.

Powering the full indoor league experience

1. HOW DID THE LEAGUE WORK AND WHAT WAS ITS OVERALL IMPACT?

The Indoor Golf Sixes League ran for six weeks in total, with 20 participating teams from 5 different countries playing two rounds of 6-holes during that period. Teams were given two 30-day windows to enter scores for their two rounds via Golf Genius’ mobile app. All three pairs’ scores were aggregated to create a team total for the two rounds and an overall league table.

2. CAN YOU DESCRIBE GOLF GENIUS INVOLVEMENT IN THE INDOOR VERSION –WHAT WAS THEIR ROLE AND HOW DID THEY HELP YOU TO BRING THE INDOOR LEAGUE TO LIFE?

The off-course solution and services that Golf Genius provided us with to do this was seamless, and we could not have achieved such success without it.

The solution included functionality for teams to join the league via online registration, access league information such as TrackMan instructions, input their live scores on a mobile device and view leaderboards in real-time. We were also able to automatically update league tables and communicate with team managers instantly via text and email.

3. WHICH FEATURES WITHIN GOLF GENIUS TM STOOD OUT, AND HOW DID THEY IMPROVE BOTH THE GOLFER EXPERIENCE AND THE OVERALL RUNNING OF THE LEAGUE FOR CPG?

From an administrative perspective, providing team managers with the ability to join the league and register their golfers was hugely beneficial, as was the fully branded and customisable league portal, as it allowed us to share various information about the indoor GolfSixes League, such as instructions on using TrackMan simulators.

Teams really enjoyed being able to view in-play leaderboards and live league tables to track their performance and found the ability to load and enter scores via the Golf Genius app easy. The digital offering spanned the entire league process, making it easy for us to manage throughout and provided players with a more professional experience.
