OUR FAVOURITE TRENDS FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2021

The pandemic has affected the way that designers approach their collections, and where until very recently we would be talking about the attitude and the glam, we now discuss the distance and the lack of human touch. This has reflected in the style and the trends for this Spring Summer, fabrics are looser, with more drapes, waving in the air freely as you walk past creating a new dynamic.

1Toned down pink. A healthy balance between eccentric hot pink and washed out pastel, this pink will reappear and shapeshift through our wardrobes and many of our favourite outfits, not just in spring and summer, but even throughout

Winter. And it is not just pink, think about the tennis ball colour, that weird off yellow, dragged through fake painted grass type of yellow, yep and add orange to the mixture, you got yourself a holy trinity of 2021. If this cannot slay the virus we don’t know what would.

2Leather everything.

This precious material has returned mainly in its vegan substitute (woohoo) and it is being used by designers to reimagine our everyday wear, from shirts, to skirts, to trousers and long trench coat. Black has never looked better, and this leather look is here to stay around for the long run.

We have been seeing the monochrome trend linger around since 2019. This season however, instead of outfits built in one colour, we have outfits predominantly dresses, jackets, and skirts, featuring a mixture of black and white.

Oftentimes this comes in very relaxed fits, with simple silhouettes, and a signature bag as the ultimate accessory.

4Yellow bags.

With everyone staying at home more often than not, one could ask themselves if they even need a handbag. Yellow is always fun, so yes, yes, you do need a bag. In fact, get a few, the main trend is that bags are slightly smaller on average than the previous season, yellow, some have a fringe, while others are cylindrical and can carry just about your water bottle (branded obviously.)

5The little black dress reimagined.

The return no one expected but everyone secretly wished for seasons to come back - the little black dress.

With more time on their hands, the designers being a bit more adventurous added the so - called ’floss’ which is basically thin cords and wraparounds the body which show up and disappear under the garment’s new cuts revealing our not-so-toned lockdown body.
