Costa Rica

Village Immersion, Cloud Forests, & Tropical Beaches

• Volunteer with Tico friends to build a community center • Practice Spanish and help local cooks prepare meals • Play an afternoon game of fútbol with local children • Learn to surf along Costa Rica’s pristine coastline

Destination • Travel to Costa Rica, a small country known for its biodiversity, pristine beaches, and innovative approaches to ecotourism. Immerse yourself in a small village, collaborate on service projects, and explore the country’s natural wonders— from tropical rainforests to Pacific Coast beaches, hot springs, and active volcanoes.

Projects • Collaborate with locals on important projects identified by your host community. Lay foundations and build walls for a community center, teach English, or plant trees for a reforestation project. Take turns preparing daily meals and learning to cook traditional cuisine like gallo pinto alongside local cooks.

Activities • Relax with Tico friends after a day’s work, hike to a hidden swimming hole, and play a game of fútbol in the town plaza. Take excursions to surf on pristine beaches, ride a zipline, trek through tropical forests in search of monkeys and sloths, and take a professionally guided whitewater rafting trip.
