Editor’s desk After reading the draft magazine, I am forever glad to declare that we are redeemed and forgiven – how? Ephesians 1:7 says, "In Christ we are set free by the blood of his death, and so we have forgiveness of sins. How rich is God's grace". Yes, we are cleansed from all sin – how? 1 John 1:17 says, "If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:17). Again yes, we are justified – how? Romans 5:9 says, "Since, therefore, we are justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God" And also Revelation 1:5-6 says, "To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever" Yes, we are sanctified – how? Hebrews 13:12 says, "So Jesus suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through His own blood". The precious blood of Jesus really touches your life because you can enter into God's presence in Prayer, as Hebrews says, "We have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus". This enables us to conquer Satan - how? See Revelation 12:11, "They have conquered him (satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the Word of their testimony". By the blood of Jesus all my sins are forgiven By the blood of Jesus I am redeemed out of the hands of the devil

I will always remember one evening 20 years ago, it was a miracle! I gave my life to Jesus. I felt I had sinned but at the same time I felt an enormous warm flow and inner cleaning. I felt free, no more burden of sin! It was an enormous feeling of the power of Jesus' blood!

Blood of

Jesus

What can we do if we still fall into sin? Many Christians still fall into sin and they feel that they have not succeeded in their life as a Christian. You may easily feel tempted to give up on your spiritual life because you are not good enough for God. Don't worry. We have the blood of Christ, which is enough for everybody, to clean all our sins! Thanks God, He had a plan all ready 2000 years ago to send His son to the world. Jesus was crucified for all of us and his death was so unique. He gave His life for you, because God loves you (John. 3:16). If you have done wrong, you must confess your sins and ask for forgiveness (1. John 1:9). Jesus' blood takes away all our sins (1. John. 1:7). Hallelujah! How great is His mercy for us!

by Marika Jouhki (D), Finland

What can we do, when we have sinned and betrayed the confidence of God? How can we repair our relationship with God? How can we again get His mercy upon us? Fortunately, we have the blood of Jesus Christ! In the Old Testament in the Bible we find the story about King David's life. You surely remember what happened to David after he committed adultery with Bathsheba, how he arranged the death of her husband and finally married her. The prophet Nathan revealed everything and afterwards David regretted everything he had done (2. Sam. 11) and confessed his sins to God. David realised how huge God's love is! You can find his repentance in Psalm 51. It says in Hebrews that the blood of Jesus Christ speaks better than the blood of Abel (Heb. 12:24). What does this mean? Abel was murdered by his brother Cain. What does his blood speak, and what does Jesus' blood speak? Read Genesis 4:10-11.

When Jesus' blood is flowing, how is it speaking better? It does not speak of death but of life!

Cain got his punishment because of the death of Abel but nobody had to suffer because of the death of Christ. Christ made peace through the blood in his

Let us be strong! We are going to Heaven and we are getting there because we have the blood of Jesus!

Why has He bought us back? What is the biggest need that people have?

- everyone that sins will be a slave to sin (John. 8:34)

Perhaps you remember that when the soldiers were crucifying Jesus, his blood was splattering onto them. Jesus prayed: "My Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). We can read in Hebrews: "without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness”. Forgiveness is available only through the blood of Jesus Christ!

Later, John tells us about his vision: ”After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb”. (Rev. 7:9,14)

cross. "And through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross” (Col. 1:20). The Bible says that we are redeemed with the precious blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:19). This means that Christ has bought us back for God.

The blood of Abel was shouting for death and murder and was demanding revenge.

The blood of Abel is blood of death but the blood of Jesus is blood of life. The blood of Abel demands revenge but the blood of Jesus speaks of FORGIVENESS.

John writes: ”He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

- sin has its punishment (Romans 6:23)

You see that we have a problem. We have all done wrong (Romans 2:23). Instead of us, Jesus suffered pain on the cross for us (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus Christ has set us free (Romans 3:24). Let us imagine a man, who has very large debts. Jesus has come to him and asked how much he has to pay, Jesus has paid it all and let him go free (John 8:36). He has bought us our freedom and the price was His precious blood and now our relationship with God is OK. So we can now be connected to God and be saved by believing in Jesus. Hallelujah! Many Christians have felt this. It is marvelous to be born again. When a sinner is praying and calling for help from the Lord, he can feel the cleansing of his soul. Jesus will take away all our sins. April 2009 GO! SIGN

All that remains are not to be forgotten memories of the conference in Las Palmas and the contributions of Benito and David Roldan and their assistants.

The communication among deaf people was good and there were a lot of sermons and performances from the different countries.

The next conference will be held in Holland. We serve the fine and powerful God! Thanks! By Margit Taks (D), Estonia

New Deaf Church in Old Cairo, Egypt Sunday January 11th, 2009 saw a Deaf Church planted in Old Cairo. In Autumn 2008 they started home visits and a Bible School for the Deaf on Saturdays. 20 Deaf adults attended and all agreed that it is not God's purpose that ANYONE be left behind or sent to hell for not believing and accepting Jesus as Saviour. Deacon Faraj Hanna and Raga started regular Deaf Sunday Services, then Deaf Bible Studies on Fridays with food and fellowship and meetings for prayer. 14 Deaf adults were confirmed by Bishop Mouneer in January and it was a great joy for both deaf and hearing. Our mission started in April, when Harry Leesment and myself, Margit Taks, visited Almaty (Kazakhstan) to plan the educational program for the Deaf there and hire the rooms for that. Harry Leesment then suggested I should be the director of the school. The school lasted for three months – starting in September 29 and lasting until December 20. We left Estonia at the end of September to open the Eurasian Deaf School. There were four of us – Ava Lepik as an administrative assistant, Allan Lepik and Vitali Taks as teachers, Valeri Õige as a student and

with other female students and men in the same room with other male students. The 35 students came from 6 different countries – Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgystan, Usbekistan and from different cities of Kazakstan. In the beginning it was a little difficult to run the school because of the big number of students, but as all of them were so eager to learn and so active, it made it easier to cope with organisational problems. The students were also very eager to take on different responsibilities and helped in all kind of duties and cleaning.

On Sundays, our students participated in the services of the four different local hearing churches, where there were also Deaf members, to encourage contact and fellowship with the local congregations. During their free time the students visited different places for evangelisation, meeting other Deaf people, as well as sightseeing.

Every Friday we had practice sessions. The students were divided into small groups and different groups were responsible for preaching, singing or pantomime presentations every Friday. In the beginning many of them were quite uncertain and shy but by the end of the school, all of them performed very well with great courage.

We were warned in the beginning that we would have to be very careful about teaching religion, as the government had already prepared a strict law forbidding different religions. They also suggested to us that we name the school a School of Victorious Familiy Life but this situation and the problems made us to pray more and become stronger spiritually and

We are very grateful also to the hearing teachers who came to the school to teach: Harry Leesment and Donna Greenslade from Australia and Marite Taks as a sign language interpreter, interpreting from spoken English to Russian Sign Language, coming from Estonia. The other teachers were Deaf: Jan zachariassen from Denmark, Dmitry Lavrov from Russia and Riho Kurg from Estonia, as well as Margit and Vitali Taks and Ava and Allan Lepik for the team. When the school was opened many people from different parts of Asia expressed their gratitude for this possibility as many of them have been praying for two years for a school of this kind. After the school all the students were very grateful, they all were so sad that the school lasted for such a short time. We are very thankful to all the people who have supported us from Australia, Denmark and other countries.

Vitali and Margit Taks

We also want to give our deepest thanks to everyone who has supported us in prayer. May God bless you richly for everything. And praise to God who gave us this possibility and carried us through everything. 7 GO! SIGN

7 GO! SIGN

"The Blood of Jesus – what does this mean for me?" Hi, my name is Neil Robinson. I am happily married to Helen, which I have been for over 3 years now. We are both members of Church of Christ the King, a Newfrontiers church based at Brighton, where we lead the CCK Deaf group. What does the Blood of Jesus really mean to me and Helen? Today, I was reading the Bible and a verse just came up from Hebrews 10: 22. This verse helped me reflect how eight deaf people have come to know the Lord. I realised that as Christians we can be confident in approaching God at any time, because the verse says, "Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience..." We noticed the wonderful change that has taken place in our lives,

since we first asked Jesus to come into our hearts. Instead of being tangled in our problems, we are experiencing an endless joy of knowing freedom in Christ. Why? Jesus has forgiven us all our sins, and washed us clean by his blood! But we learnt that we need to draw ourselves closer to Jesus every day, to acknowledge our alliance with Jesus in every area of our lives. I remember when I first became a Christian years ago, I didn't understand what God required of me, until a few years later. The Bible says that the blood of Jesus is there to purify us from sin in order to mature daily. It is just amazing to know that God still loves us regardless of the mistakes we make in our lives. I do thank God for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to allow me to experience his

cleansing forgiveness for all my sins and to show me the way to holiness. Here is a verse from Romans 5: 9, which says: "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!" Praise God!

The deaf Go! Sign Cross Drama Group from London (part of Christian Deaf Link UK) visited Goldstone Deaf Group at Bishop Hannington in Hove on Sunday 8th March. They gave a fantastic and helpful drama with signing in a simple and clear way on how to accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour in our hearts and on how to turn away from the devil and his evil doings. The drama is meant to help deaf people to understand better how to live a Christian life; helping them to change their hearts and to ask God for His forgiveness and His help to follow Jesus more faithfully and joyfully.

The drama was given with various short acts such as the Parable of the Sower from the Bible (Matt 13v3-9)

and the Armour of God (Eph 6v1120). They illustrated different failures and the best success in attaining eternal life with God in heaven and also gave a clear message as to how to keep following Jesus. In some acts, like ‘Life Too Short’ and ‘Who is that man?’, there were helpful reminders that people ignore anything to do with Jesus before they die and then realise it is too late, also that Jesus loves them and will forgive them when they repent for doing wrong things and start to follow him again. In between the acts there were songs praising God for His great goodness and wonderful things that are above all.

giving a brilliant drama which we enjoyed watching. We pray that it will help the deaf to get to know Jesus better as their Lord and Saviour and also that the Drama Group will continue spreading the Good News in drama, performed to more deaf people in other places. emotions. The team is excellent! Louise Randell I am hearing and really wanted to see how to use drama to communicate with deaf people. Watching the Go! Peter Munroe (H)

I was really impressed by the Deaf Drama, as a hearing person, the message was very clear: Jesus saves. The performance was easy to follow and each sketch was interesting and short. I understand some sign language but there were a couple of sketches I wasn't sure if I understood correctly. I would like a bit more information about the sketch, rather than just a title to go by...keep up the good work. Simon Allott-Butler (H) Brilliant drama, good acting. About The London Prayer Meetings “ The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength, you will be like a well-watered garden. Like an ever-flowing spring.” Isaiah 58: 11 Maybe you know about the monthly London prayer meetings that have been taking place for one and half years. I organise them to encourage the need to keep praying because it is important to “Let your requests be made know to God”. Deaf/deaf Christians who are in the London area may go on their own to local churches. Many churches with signing have a few Deaf people only and we need more access to integrated churches which provide access with interpreting. So we offer Deaf /deaf Christians a chance to meet together, have fellowship together, praise the Lord, join in prayer and, by meeting together, be strengthened in their Christian life.

News of God’s Work in Birmingham Hello friends, I want to share the news of what God has been doing in Birmingham since the last article I wrote for the Go! Sign magazine (issue 66, winter 07/08). God has been doing so much awesome work in our Christian lives and continues to mould our characters everyday, to develop our gifts to become useful tools to serve the Lord Jesus. Our Home Group has started a Bible Study Course to learn more about the Bible using the structure of five W’s: What, Where, Why, Who and When. These are taught by Brent and Nora. This home group course helps us to learn a lot more about the history of the Bible, to understand more about our God, also helping us to prepare for the vision we have had since January 2006. In January 2009, I began my new job, working one day per week, at Riverside House as Deaf pastor for the Deaf Community and for Riverside House. The role is to develop more resources, courses and services for the Deaf communities in Birmingham and to work with Riverside Church. 1 Corinthians 12:12 says “The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one body.” This is what we see in Riverside: Deaf and Hearing people have differences but we work together as one community, serving Jesus in one spirit.

Here is the awesome news that I am so eager to share with you about the vision, the team of leaders from Riverside House have agreed and given us full support to set up a service for Deaf people at Riverside House. This has been our dream since January 2006 and it will be happening in June 2009. God has been blessing us so much, developing our strong teamwork through home group and continuing the same desire, growing our characters and wisdom.

It is not easy to pray alone and it is not easy to pray everyday but you can come and join us at our prayer meeting.

Also we would love you to send us your prayer requests. When you come we are happy to pray with you and for your requests! “Hebrew 10v24. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works (Hebrew 10v25) not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." NKJV We remember our many Deaf/deaf brothers and sisters that are lost. Try to reach out to them in your prayers, those friends who backslide or ignore Jesus or who are attracted to other religions or cults “Many flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh” by John Barry (D)

The very first service will be on Sunday 21st June 2009 at 11am till 12:30pm and will then be run on the first Sunday every other month from 2nd August onwards. This is our new step for 2009/10 and we will see how God guides us for the first year and whether He wants us to increase the number of services during the second year of 2010/11. God has been so good to us all. You all are very welcome to come to the service to celebrate with us, to receive the blessings from Jesus and to pray for us to have a blessed journey with Jesus Christ. If you would like updated news or any more information about God’s work in Birmingham, feel free to email me at birmingham_sign4christ@hotmail.com or jaym@riverside-church.org.uk I am so excited about what the future will bring for us in the Midlands. Please continue with your prayers for God’s amazing work in the Deaf Community and for our new service to be blessed and successful. God bless you all. Surrey Christian Sign Fellowship – Easter Deaf Family Day Surrey Christian Sign Fellowship (SCSF) held an activity day to celebrate Easter in Cheam, Surrey as part of their outreach programme. There were many Easter craft activities enjoyed by both children and some of the grown ups too and a table for face painting. The local police officers in sign language training also had an activity table and a competition to win a police bear. Esther Maycock (D) led a signed song for the young people. One mum commented on how encouraged she was as her son eagerly joined in. There was an enactment of the stations of the cross by the youth group and a challenge in small groups to make a cross that was strong using only newspaper and tape. There was a short drama session by Bron Buxton (D) and Esther Maycock (D) about two children, one not wanting to share her

chocolate eggs with her friend, and then the message about Jesus giving what he had, his life for everybody. David Buxton (D) led a quiz for the children and their parents to see how well they knew each other, which was great fun. He gave a talk with slides about a caterpillar and changes before new life as a butterfly. David explained about Jesus and his death and when he was raised to life. Hot cross buns were served with refreshments and there were many social opportunities for networking too. The children all went home with chocolate eggs at the end of a fun packed day. Some of the comments on the day: “It was an opportunity to meet new people and catch up with those I have not seen for a long time. It was a great opportunity to sign and communicate with others, it was

good fun and really went well. I am a scout leader and was able to put another Deaf family at the event in touch with a beavers group in my area where there is sign language available. I was also really interested to find out about the camp organized for young people run by Deaf Youth For Christ (DY4C).” Matthias (D) “The Easter “Deaf” Family Day was really good, bringing families from different backgrounds to the original GOD, who created our world- where we live now, together with our Lord Jesus Christ! Easter is about spiritual rebirth after spiritual death.” Lara (D) “I really enjoyed making the clay candle holder and cross and the signed songs” – Craig (H) “David’s message about Easter was very meaningful to both children and adults. It was brief, simple and meaningful with a strong message.” Nancy (H)

“I really enjoyed learning to sign with David and being able to use what I had learned in the youth group activity as I was the only hearing person in the group. It was good fun.” Sophie (H) “I think the short drama played by the two Deaf ladies for the kids was inspiring and fun. It was also fun for the kids to be involved in making things or having their faces painted.” Teresa (D)

“I enjoyed learning to sign and am glad that nobody took offence that I was not good enough. I couldn’t stop for a couple of hours afterwards. It was a rewarding day for me.” Chris (H)

“The Deaf family day was a rewarding experience for everyone. New friendships blossomed amid hot cross buns, activities and laughter. People came together from a wide area to communicate and have fun and we did just that.” Fiona (H)

“There is some really positive feedback about the day from my group of friends. What a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the children have really enjoyed the activities. Is there a programme of events throughout the year? When is the next one?”- Deaf parent.

Crazy DY4C Day Event Star City About 25 deaf and hearing young adults attended DY4C day event at Star City, in Birmingham. It was a brilliant opportunity to socialise, and getting to know new people or catching up with all the news by playing a game of bowling and laser for a day. Let’s read people’s comments about it… "When I was younger, I joined a church youth club and I always got lost with communication and never felt part of it. It is like a missing piece to complete the jigsaw puzzle, but until I found out about DY4C and went out for a day in Birmingham, the jigsaw was completed, as I met lots of new people and got to know them better! Now, I am happy to know that DY4C does exist, so I am able to get involved in more events in the future! Can't wait!" Daniel Voss (D)

"I really enjoyed it because it was a great fun and the atmosphere was so friendly! The best bit was meeting lots of new people and the most memorable bit was Siobhan's wig!" Naomi Jarrett (H) “DY4C day event was brilliant to meet a lot of new and old Deaf people from the UK. I always enjoyed chatting, going out, helping and encouraging each other, and having good fun together. I have always had a good time at all past DY4C events – Thank God for His plans with DY4C and also with His love to encourage with other young Deaf people to get involved with us in the DY4C events. It is very useful to get to know more about Christianity and experience our lives as becoming a good follower of Jesus in righteousness. God bless to DY4C Team Leaders and young Deaf people!” Peter Hylton (D)

‘What does the Blood of Jesus mean to you?’ “If it wasn’t for God that sent His only Son to the cross, then we wouldn’t have any hope and have no chances at all. We’re LOST… but God was too holy, so He wasn’t happy with the way people were making sacrifices, and that’s part of a reason that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to the cross, so we can be forgiven “our sins”. He did it because He loved the World so that we could have an everlasting life in heaven.” Siobhan McIlvenny (D) “Why did Jesus die and shed His blood… to help us to remember Him when he died on the cross for us and also to wash our sins away. It gives us peace and joy in our minds, especially through the process of healing to become free! That's why Jesus wants to save us and also to encourage the Good News to other people in the world because God loves them and gives His mercy on people who have been suffering

around the world. A good example of what Jesus said – ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.‘ (John 14:6)” Peter Hylton (D) "The blood of Jesus was shed for your sins and for mine. There is no salvation for the soul apart from our submission to the cleansing of the blood. Our hearts are dirty and need to be cleaned before God will relate with us and be our friend. The blood Jesus shed has power to cleanse and power to redeem. Because of his sacrifice you and I can live forever! I have accepted the cleansing of Jesus' blood, which is a very important part of Christian faith and I have a feeling of a more closeness and spiritual experience with Him.” Waheed Zubair (D) April 2009 GO!

Deaf Testimony “Why Jesus is so important in my life?” He has made so much difference to me and the experiences I have had. I was brought up in a Christian family but I didn't pray. during my childhood, only praying with my mum a prayer she taught me, A Prayer Of Child, called in Swedish “ Gud som haver barn kär i Himmelen” (English translation “May God Have As Love For Child”). Mum also wrote some Bible verses on the walls to make me calm and to rely on God being with me all time. When I was growing up, I was the only Christian in my school. Years passed and I moved to a city called Orebro in the middle of Sweden, about 200 km from Stockholm, and my parents and other family relatives prayed for me to find Christian friends so that I would not go away from God. I met a woman friend who went to the same School in Orebro. I discovered that she also was a Christian like me and that she had some contact with two other Christians so I wanted to visit them with her. The woman friend of mine promised that we all would meet up. I was too quiet and didn’t talk as much as I wanted to because I was too shy. We visited one of the woman's friends, there were two Christians present and one of them asked me if I was Christian and I said yes. They were happy for me to share in their praying meeting and I experienced something different that I hadn't experienced in my childhood. The prayer was strong and the two Christians spoke in tongues, which caught my interest. I felt peaceful inside that evening and I didn’t want go home. I didn’t dare to ask them why they spoke in tongues but I felt it was positive. The prayer meeting finished and it was time

to go home to a foster family that I lived with, I wanted to stay there a little more time but I had to go home. So, that evening I started to pray at home myself. I was eager to pray every day and I said to God that I wanted to have the same experience I had at that prayer meeting and I said that to God for several days. At last, I became filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues and then I felt something was changing in me and others started to notice that I talked more than before. God changed my life and I am so grateful to have tasted God’s conversion in my life. I have experienced some healing miracles. For example some of my family suffer from a pollen allergy, I didn't have it but one day my eyes kept watering. I asked my Christians friends to pray for me at our prayer meeting. One of them came to me and said “ yes, but you can visit a doctor and get medicine”. This made me angry and I said “NO, I won’t visit a doctor". I preferred healing and to be set free from the suffering I had. I refused to accept that I had the pollen allergy, I was so determined! I had never experienced such determination before, I said I would like to leave it as a subject for prayer so they prayed for me instead. My faith was so strong and I believed that I would be set free. After the prayer meeting, a week passed by. I had completely forgotten that I had prayed to God to set me free from suffering from the pollen allergy. I discovered that my eyes had stopped watering. I was healed! I thanked God that I was healed from the pollen allergy. I testified to others that it is very important to thank God for something that we have prayed

about and that God would give answers to prayer! Something else I witnessed was the healing of a friend. She suffered from back pains after a car accident and at a prayer meeting she went to the front and people prayed for her. She sat down and I could see that one of her legs was shorter than the other. As they continued to pray, I saw the leg growing. I never thought I would experience such a thing. God is a big God and a good God. Nothing is impossible for God, Luke 1:37. Please thank God always for everything, irrespective of where you are living. The negative can be turned into the positive to the end. Amen! God Loves You! By Elisabeth Skjold Denmark (D) April 2009 GO! SIGN

Wanted – Deaf BSL Teachers

Signs of God When you attend Church and Christian events where there are Deaf people you will usually see a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter there. Over thirty years ago, when Deaf people started to attend mainstream events or churches, they relied on goodwill and support from volunteers who could sign. As time went by, when signing in the UK became known as British Sign Language during the 1980s, many Christian volunteers developed their signing skills through taught BSL courses Stages 1, 2 and 3, then achieved interpreter status. However, BSL interpreter standards in the UK were haphazard, so in the 1990s efforts were made to develop a quality framework of interpreted BSL, so that Deaf people would get the 'best deal' in communication access. Church signing was still mainly 'amateur' and basic, although a few churches had teams of signers with fluent BSL. The Word of God was too valuable to let that situation continue, so two people (Gill Behenna and Ros Hunt) with a passion for quality BSL in Christian settings started "Signs of God" in 1997. Twelve years on, Signs of God has become a key training and accessprovider organisation, focusing on quality training of BSL within

Christian settings. So, as an organisation promoting the use of quality BSL in specific settings, SoG is the only one in the UK of its kind so far. It is a role model for BSL training/access services.

There are also now more Deaf people training for theological qualifications in the UK. That is good news, though it means more BSL interpreter bookings for more specific training.

SoG has trained hundreds of people over the last 12 years through its many workshops, residential weekends and summer schools. The level of BSL amongst Christian interpreters has risen dramatically in the last few years and many have taken up professional work as interpreters so contributing to the growing number of available interpreters in the UK during the last decade.

Unfortunately, Signs of God does not have enough Deaf teachers to enable us to train people to meet the increased number of requests for interpreters. We urgently need more Deaf teachers to join our volunteer team. You need to be an experienced, qualified BSL teachers and willing to agree with our objects set out below:

BSL teachers and Deaf professionals are valuable assets to Signs of God's work as they work alongside trained BSL interpreters. This opens up increasing participation of Deaf people, using BSL as their preferred language. The demand for interpreters by Christian events and churches is growing every year which means more choice for Deaf people but puts more pressure on Signs of God to deliver training.

'To advance the use of BSL in Christian settings, and to promote and enable full participation in the Christian faith of people who use BSL'. We are aware of the current training and qualification challenges facing Deaf BSL teachers in the UK. But our volunteer tutors receive a lot of support. Many Deaf BSL teachers who worked with SoG have found the experience rewarding. Although the work is voluntary, we always pay travelling expenses and give a small financial gift.
