Energy and Natural Resources Utah has diverse and abundant natural resources ranging from agriculture and mineral resources (including hydrocarbons) to renewable resources including wind, solar, geothermal and others. These natural resources generate significant revenue for the State of Utah and are the foundation of the state’s rural communities. Energy development is of particular importance to the state, and not only because of the significant capital investment, job creation, and revenue associated with energy development activities, but also because those activities lead to the low energy prices that provide a foundation for all of Utah’s economic successes. Energy jobs in Utah account for 1.6 percent of the state’s jobs, (just fewer than 18,000) but account for 2.6 percent of the
