TRAVEL: UK

The magnificent Isle of Skye, which takes its name from the old Norse sky-a meaning ‘cloud island’.

ow often do you hear someone say “I have always wanted to go to Italy”, or Greece, or South America. We don’t know why, we are just drawn to go… a deep yearning within us to visit a particular place in the World. I had been experiencing a very strong calling to visit the UK but I fought this desire for three whole years. I had no valid reason to go and, being one of nine children, had never done anything on my own, ever! However, every time I saw a castle on TV or heard a Scottish accent, etc., I was reminded of my yearning and I knew I had to follow that persistent voice inside me so I booked my flight for April Fool’s Day, as my folly was to be a true journey into the unknown. My one and only plan was my first two nights accommodation, which I had pre-booked in Oxford. From that point on it was a day by day adventure of asking Spirit “Where am I meant to go?” I would read about a village or a stone circle or someone would randomly mention a sacred well and I just knew that this destination was next. For six weeks I drove around England, Wales and Scotland, going as far north as the Orkneys Islands. Out of the car I would hop, boots on and walk… and walk, through people’s farms, along coastal headlands, on boats, up mountains, around lakes and through churches and graveyards. It proved to be an amazing trip. I had incredible experiences in so many places; smells, sights, sounds, the dreadful cold,

all of these provoked changes in me in those moments. Often for 5, 10 or 30 minutes I was no longer myself; I was thrown into past life memories and time seemed not to exist. During these experiences I knew who I had been and what I had been going through. In one of my happiest moments I was on a farm, by the sea on the Isle of Skye, freezing and soaked with the blistering wind and rain but consumed by a joy I had no words to describe. In experiencing these past lives I gathered lost parts of me. Quite evidently, lots of energetic clearing and lots of healing occurred. By the time I came home, I felt like someone had puttied up and smoothed over any little holes I had had. I felt whole in every sense of the word. At the same time though, I felt like a completely different person. My journey and what I saw and felt took me completely by surprise. I really did not expect to have past life memories, nor feel so different. I was raised in a large Catholic family and have two science degrees so new age spirituality was never a part of my world. However, this scientist has experienced her evidence first hand. So, listen to your soul and be guided. You cannot judge what you don’t know and you will never know until you try.
