CREATIVE TEAM MATT LOGAN

(Artistic Director, Director, Designer) An accomplished designer, director, illustrator and performer, Matt Logan is first and foremost a story-teller—drawing on his multi-disciplinary talents to create a comprehensive signature aesthetic that connects all aspects of Studio Tenn. A nationally recognized director and designer, Logan made his professional directorial debut at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) at the age of 19. Post high school, he attended Pepperdine University on a design scholarship where he apprenticed under theatre legend John Raitt and received the John Raitt Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Theatre Arts. Upon graduating, Logan worked on Broadway in costuming for GYPSY, THE LION KING, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and OKLAHOMA. He also assisted Tara Rubin Casting for THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, JERSEY BOYS, SPAMALOT and SHREK. As an actor, Logan’s credits include performances with Performance Riverside, McCoy Rigby Entertainment, Tennessee Repertory Theatre, Rattlestick Theatre NY, the Actors Fund of NY and the San Francisco Opera. He also starred as Henry Higgins in Studio Tenn’s 2013 production of MY FAIR LADY and King Arthur in the company’s 2017 production of MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT. In the fall of 2009, Logan became the founding Artistic Director of Studio Tenn. He has since directed and designed seven critically acclaimed seasons with Studio Tenn. In addition, Logan’s direction of Stuidio Tenn’s debut production of OUR TOWN at the Loveless Barn secured Studio Tenn as a major force in the artistic landscape of Tennessee. Logan then led a partnership with Show Hope by directing and designing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA with the Nashville Symphony and a star-studded cast including Tony Award winner Heather Headley. In his tenure at Studio Tenn, Logan conceived the LEGACY SERIES; a unique and original theatrical-hybrid concert that honors great music artists of the American landscape. In 2017, he had the privilege to work with the family of legendary artist Johnny Cash to bring the LEGACY SERIES to the historic Ryman Auditorium. The LEGACY SERIES, along with Logan’s visionary productions, have landed Studio Tenn on the stages of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, the Ryman Auditorium, Jamison Hall in the Factory at Franklin, the Franklin Theater, and most recently, Andrew Jackson Hall at TPAC. In a historic and monumental artistic partnership, Logan directed and designed EVITA at TPAC as the first regionally lead production to open their Broadway Series. The nationally recognized production starred WICKED alumni Eden Espinosa, Tony Winner Anthony Crivello and Broadway super-star Ben Crawford. Outside of Studio Tenn, Logan is a nationally recognized illustrator and caricature artist who was named by The New York Times as an heir to the Al Hirschfeld tradition for his Broadway portraiture. His celebrity clients include Hugh Jackman, Bernadette Peters, Jude Law, Martin Short, Mike Nichols, Dolly Parton, Mary Tyler Moore, Katie Holmes, Harry Connick Jr. and Morgan Freeman. Recently, his privately commissioned drawing for AN AMERICAN IN PARIS was submitted to the Library of Congress by the George Gershwin estate. In Middle Tennessee, Logan serves as the Design Chair for Christ Presbyterian Church and Academy. He is a proud mentor at Belmont University, theater affiliate at The Theater Bug and private mentor to rising local talent. He has had the honor of designing the prestigious Heritage Ball, costumes for the world premiere of THREE WAY with the Nashville Opera which traveled to Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and most recently designed Joshua Henry’s concert which launched his relationship with Borderlight Entertainment.

CREATIVE TEAM A. S. PETERSON (Script Writer) A. S. “Pete” Peterson is the author of the Revolutionary War adventure The Fiddler’s Gun and its sequel Fiddler’s Green, as well as a number of short stories. Among the many strange things he’s been in life are the following: U.S Marine air traffic controller, television editor, art teacher, and boatwright. He lives in Nashville with his wife, Jennifer, where he’s the Executive Director of the Rabbit Room and Managing Editor of Rabbit Room Press.

MITCH WHITE (Technical Director, Head Carpenter, Associate Scenic Designer) A master-level craftsman and experienced production professional, Mitch White turns Studio Tenn’s custom stage designs into reality with surgical precision and artistic ingenuity. White segued into professional theatre after a 25-year career in the music industry working in management, artist development, touring, marketing and promotion with numerous performers including Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, TobyMac, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow and more. He was first introduced to Studio Tenn when his wife Susannah was cast in the company’s inaugural season opener HELLO, DOLLY!. He began building sets and soon realized he’d found his perfect niche: combining his entertainment industry and construction experience along with his organizational and creative skills. White has served as Technical Director and Set Co-designer for all of Studio Tenn’s productions since 2011, including GUYS AND DOLLS (2011); A CHRISTMAS CAROL (2011-2013); THE MIRACLE WORKER (2012); THE SOUND OF MUSIC (2012); SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE (2012); BIG RIVER (2013); MY FAIR LADY (2013); THE HANK LEGACY (2013); INTO THE WOODS (2013); FROST/NIXON (2014); LES MISERABLES (2014); FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (2014); STEEL MAGNOLIAS (2014); IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (2014); THE CASH LEGACY (2015); THE WIZARD OF OZ (2015); THE GLASS MENAGERIE (2016); WEST SIDE STORY (2016); EVITA (2016); THE ELEPHANT MAN (2017).
