ANNIVERSARY Berger, 40 years CLEAR LAKE — Thomas J. Berger and Susan D. (DeBoom) Berger of Clear Lake will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on June 14. They were married at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Algona, Iowa. They have three children, Jeremy (Andrea), Josh and Jaci (Tim), and four grandchildren who all live in the North Iowa area. They celebrated their anniversary in May with a trip to Seattle, Washington, and then on to Alaska.

Mott, 50 years MASON CITY — Gary and Carolyn Mott of Mason City were married June 1, 1965, at First Methodist Church in Mason City. They will celebrate with an Open House from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., in Mason City. There will be a short program at 3 p.m. They have two children, Eric Mott and wife Kelly Jo Eldredge, and Sarah Young and significant other Rob Montano; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Grady, all of Denver, Colorado.

BIRTHDAY Agatha Berkland, 100 Agatha Berkland turned 100 years old on June 13. She was a teacher at St. Joseph School from 1958 through 1974 for the 4th and 5th grades. Come visit with her at East Park Shelter No. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.

SHEFFIELD – Sheldon and Michelle Jurgens, of Sheffield, are the parents of a son, Calvin Thomas, born on April 1, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City. THANK YOU The Annual MCHS/Newman Substance Free Post Prom Party was held at Mason City High School on Sunday, April 26, from 12:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. Junior and senior students who attend Mason City High School and Newman High School and their guests were invited to attend the event. It is not necessary for students to attend prom in order to participate in Post Prom. Some of this year’s activities included Casino, Win it in a minute, karaoke, blow up games, laser tag, basketball, giant trikes, ping pong and a hypnotist. Great food consisting of pizza, hot dogs, fruit kabobs, cookies, Jello, and beverages were provided. Some of the prizes given away were mini Apple iPads, dorm refrigerator, and dorm microwave. A BIG thanks goes out to Mason City High School, area businesses, private donors, and all the individuals who worked together to provide a safe and memorable Post Prom for our students. The donations from area businesses and private individuals are what make the event such a tremendous success.

Enjoy Your Retirement, Bev! Bev Horner, of Mason City, has retired. After 48 years of providing daycare services, Bev Horner finished her last day of work on June 10. Bev started daycare in order to stay home with her own children. Bev has provided structure, care, and love for hundreds of children including her own children and many of her grandchildren. Many of her “kids” still make requests for her banana bread, her brownies, and her bars. Bev’s own children, Tracy (Skogen), Heather (Kropp), Kristin (Goddard), and Jeff Horner would like to thank her for being the

best mom/babysitter one could hope for, and we hope she rides her bike or red convertible into the sunset!
